Hello there,

Excuse me if I speak your language wrong, I'm French.
I déjas buy PCI and PCI-E TBS cards and I am satisfied.
I would buy for my laptop the usb TV tuner DVB-T2 / DVB-C (TBS-5220)

My laptop is on the Kubuntu 14.04 LTS x64 distribution.
My laptop AMD A4-1200 graphics chip Radeon (TM) HD 8180. 4 Go Ram DDR3.

And I wonder if the USB key and compatible with my processor type before purchasing.
From the manufacturer TBS indicated :
Minimale Systemanforderungen

Betriebssystem (32-Bit und 64-Bit): Windows® XP, Vista®, Windows7®, Windows8®, Linux
CPU für SDTV: min. Pentium3, 1 GHz oder vergleichbarer AMD Athlon
CPU für HDTV: min. Pentium3, 3 GHz oder vergleichbarer AMD Athlon (Dual Core empfohlen)
1GB Arbeitsspeicher empfohlen
Min. 1GB freien Festplattenspeicher
Grafikkarte mit min. 64MB Speicher
Soundkarte mit DirectX® 9-Support oder höher
Ein freier USB2.0 Steckplatz
Digitales, terrestrisches Empfangsgebiet oder Kabelnetz

http://www.tbs-technology.de/index.php?id=56
I do not know if the AMD A4-1200 and more powerful or moin powerful AMD Athlon (Dual Core).

Es that the TBS-5220 is compatible with my laptop ?
Can you advise me ?

Thank you.

Salut,

[English]
Hoy,

I think then answer is yes for the tuner itself, now the rest depend on the usage, recording, direct play, HD video, streaming, etc...

[English]
Take care the the linux driver need a specific build or for DVB-T or for DVB-C.
I've not found a way to choose one broadcast mode without rebuild and reinstall drivers.

Check README for details.

For the decoding itself, video decoding quality will depend indeed on processors but also on parameters of applciation like VLC to get good results and this is not related to the tuner.

Code: Select All Code
I.0 install the TBS 5220 USB firmware file "dvb-usb-tbsqbox-id5220.fw" /lib/firmware/:

mv dvb-usb-tbsqbox-id5220.fw /lib/firmware/

II. refer to README_TBS5921 for further installation instructions

III. in case you want to use 5220 for DVBC then before step I.4 (and after I.3) from the
steps in II. run:

- for x86 kernel 3.x (x86 32 bit installations of kernel 3.x):

# ./v4l/tbs-dvbc-x86_r3.sh

- for x86 kernel 2.6.x (x86 32 bit installations of kernel 2.6.x):

# ./v4l/tbs-dvbc-x86.sh

- for any x86_64 kernel (x86 64 bit installations of Linux):

# ./v4l/tbs-dvbc-x86_64.sh

Code: Select All Code
linux-tbs-drivers.tar.bz2
scan-s2.tar.bz2
szap-s2.tar.bz2

Merci.

III. in case you want to use 5220 for DVBC then before step I.4 (and after I.3) from the

- for any x86_64 kernel (x86 64 bit installations of Linux):
# ./v4l/tbs-dvbc-x86_64.sh

so you see tbs-dvbc-x86_64.sh is the script to use before building! if you want to use the stick for DVB-C
by default it will be DVB-T

./v4l/tbs-dvbc-x86_64.sh est le script en question qu'il faut lancer ou pas suivant que tu veux DVB-T/DVB-S

J'ai l'impression de faire Nelson Monfort

So you need to make that choice at start and difficult to change afterward without rebuilding.

Bonjour,

Code: Select All Code
# ./v4l/tbs-dvbc-x86_64.sh

Merci.

Salut,
