TBS6921 problems

@pjm,

From what I understand, your switch is called "DP44 or Dish Pro" and it is not using voltage to control high/low band but rather 22 kHz tone (or maybe it should be called "Tone burst mode"). DVBViewer doesn't seem to have an easy option to control this setting but I think that there might be a way, if I am right about the type of your switch.

Please read the following links:
http://www.dvbviewer.com/griga/TransEdit%20E/MainWindow.html#ListProperties

LOF 1, LOF 2, LOF SW (satellite only): The first two values are the Local Oscillator Frequencies (in MHz) of your LNB for receiving the low and high band. LOF SW (LOF Switch) marks the border between low and high band. TransEdit assumes that LOF 1 applies to all frequencies below LOF SW (22 khz Tone switched off) , and LOF 2 to all frequencies above LOF SW (22 khz Tone switched on).

The default values (9750/10600/11700) are appropriate for the commonly used Universal LNBs, that are able to receive two frequency bands (low and high, controlled by the 22 khz tone). Do not change the values, unless you know exactly what you do.

If your LNB does not belong to the „Universal“ type, set LOF SW to 0, and enter the appropriate Local Oscillator Frequency either as LOF 1, if you want the 22 khz tone to be switched off, or as LOF 2, if the 22 khz tone shall be switched on. The other (unused) LOF must be set to 0. This enables using a 22 khz switch for selecting a satellite position.

So you can try to alter LOF and LOF SW settings on the scan windows to "manually" trigger the 22 kHz tone. For your case I think that you should enter LOF1=0, LOF2=10700, LOF SW=0. Don't know if this would help and I advise you to first wait for Cody to say if this is right.

i don't know what kind of multi-switch device pjm owns, but at least DiSEqC multi-switches that have four different inputs for VL,HL,VH,HH doesn't operate in such simple way as you're suggesting and they in fact use DiSEqC commands to select between VL,HL,VH,HH ports, i can give you for example Kathrein EXR 2998 DiSEqC multi-switch, because it has good documentation available online:

http://www.kathrein.de/en/sat/products/doc/9363280b.pdf

and you can check page 5 of the above document to see what i mean about the DiSEqC commands. in any case i believe it depends mainly on the particular device in use and it's not some general rule.

Cody, I'm sure that you have far more knowledge in this than me, but I think that there are "simple" multiswitches for just 1 satellite/LNB (like pjm's) and they are not using DiSEqC commands but only 13/18 V and 0/22 kHz (e.g. http://www.emp-centauri.cz/products.php?page=products, "1 SAT" section). I guess that for 2 and more LNBs your option is DiSEqC.

From 1 satellite multiswitch manual:
Multiswitches are controlled from receiver by analogue commands.

thanks for the info BluetoothBG, it looks very interesting and helpful, and I'll have a look at it down the track.

Unfortunately the 22khz problem has a low priority for me at the moment, due to the other issues I need to get sorted out, and the fact that I have "worked around" my basic problem by moving my primary satellite to the non 22khz inputs.

Also I'm using one of the other inputs in a non-conventional way, (i.e. I'm only scanning the horizontal transponders on 1 satellite, but I'm using the 13v vertical input on the multiswitch with the LNB turned 90° - so I also need to manually configure the voltage/polarisation for that satellite input, if that makes sense. Basically I'm using both H & V inputs for 2 different satellites to scan only the horizontal transponders on them both).

if pjm's switch uses "Tone burst" instead DiSEqC that in Windows is not very clear how to get - i mean how DVB application software to inform the driver that "Tone burst" is required. however, "Tone burst" is supported by the hardware and it works well in Linux for sure - i guess that's why Dreambox manage to handle it so easy too, because it's based on Linux. in any case just going to DiSEqC switch is the simplest way to resolve the issue.
