just upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04 and I'm getting the same saa716x_core errors, was working ok on 12.10 previously. Not sure if this dmesg errror is relevant or unrelated

You probably still have some old some new media ko installed

try
sudo make rmmod
sudo make rminstall
sudo make install
sudo reboot

if that doesnt work you can try ( little more risky if you mess it up or have other media drivers youve installed )
sudo make rmmod
sudo mv /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/media ~/media.bak
sudo make install
sudo reboot

did you try my last suggestion? moving the media folder, linux-3.9 has a different folder layout, I would guess thats whats causing the issues. rminstall isnt removing all the old kernel modules because they are in a different location.

Fantastic! Thanks very much, you were right about the folder layout. Shame that TBS can't produce a simple debian package for it though!

The 2nd solution to move the media folder fixed this for me too after upgrading to Ubuntu 13.04
