Will TBS driver replace my current ones?

Hi!
I've just bought a TBS5881 and was just about to install the drivers on my ubuntu server, but hesitated.

Because a while back I had serious trouble getting my other DVD-s cards working, but after a series of kernel changes and recompiling I finally got it.

I thought that maybe installing the TBS drivers would mess of my current working driver setup.

Can anyone clarify what's what? Can I install the TBS driver without risk?
