Customize Remote Control

Postby eichbaum » Sat Feb 12, 2011 4:16 am

Hi,

I am using the TBS 6981 with Mediaportal, which works quite well. However I am having some issue with using the remote control. While I am able to map most keys via the Mediaportal Configurator to the desired actions, there are some keys were this is not really possible, like:

- Power => which starts Windows Media Center, but i would like to suspend the HTPC with that button
- Exit => Which seems to send Alt-F4, but I would like to make another assignment.

So my question would be: is there a way to change the key mapping of the TBS remote control?

Thanks in advance

Hi

Our New Card which is use NXP7160 chip have a small remote soft which can customize remote control.
Image

And the older card if you want to customize remote control,you can see the driver folder to edit this file tbs6981vhid.inf

take number key 1 for example

;IR_Virtualcode_*: application shortcut key
; 0x00x x x x xx
; |->ctrl key pressed flag
; |->shift key pressed flag
; |->Alt key pressed flag
; |->keyboard(1 for keyboard, 2 for system key)
; |->Virtualcode(refer to the USB HID usage table)

HKR,"DriverData","IR_Scancode_6", 0x00010001, 0x87
;KEYBOARD_1
HKR,"DriverData","IR_Virtualcode_6", 0x00010001, 0x00011E, 0x00

so number 1 key is 1E if you want to set to another key you can modify it to another value.
You can get the remote key value at http://hotfile.com/dl/103851137/66a5244/RemoteKey.pdf.html

after modified it you should reinstall the VHID Driver!

Thanks

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply. I could change the key mapping via the inf file. After uninstalling the driver I also had to delete the TBS folder from

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

otherwise it was taking the INF file from there.

Another question regarding the remote: Is it possible for the Card to wake up the PC from S3 upon pressing a button on the remote?

even if i didn't look at it, but i don't think so, because supporting wake up from S3 is very specific and i only some WMC-grade remote control kits can do it.
