i use 'sudo apt-mark hold linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic' to stop it updating.
then checkout the changelog for the new kernel to see if i need to update for security reasons.

i'm using xubuntu 18.04 LTS personally i've put my kernel and kernel source on 'apt-mark hold' and using 'Canonical Livepatch' for security fixes until it's convenient to update the kernel. having a low powered htpc i've been compiling the media tree in a virtual machine running the same ubuntu vers...

Just an update.

Canonical Livepatch works fine no problems with the TBS driver.
put the kernel and kernel source on apt-mark hold.

Currently still using Ubuntu 17.10 and kernel 4.13.0-38.
i wasn't considering upgrading to 18.04 LTS until 17.10 is EOL.

Not upgrading to Ubuntu 18.04 LTS just yet but wondering about the livepatch service.
i'm assuming that since the base kernel version would be the same it won't cause a problem for TBS open drivers.

anyone confirm?
