6981 firmware not responding on centos8

i'm in the process of upgrading my home server from centos7 with an elrepo 5.4.6 kernel and working 6981 card. TBS in multi-tuner vendor environments

I've recently bought a PCTV 292e DVB-T2 usb tuner and am unable to get it working on my system. FYI, the 292e is natively supported in >=3.16 kernels, using em28xx module. Asking on the Mythtv mailing list, it seems that I'm not the only one with this problem, and as of yet have not found a solution...

can i use v4l git release?

i have another tuner; af9013, which requires a very new v4l release. if i install v4l from git, reboot, install TBS drivers, reboot, i see no TBS card being loaded when 'dmesg |grep cx23'. CI module

is it possible (or is anything available) that will allow me to use my 6981 card with a CI module to get subscription/FTV TV? from what i can find, the CI module has to be supported by the tuner card (either built-in or header connector), and i cant use any tuner card, with a seperate USB CI module....

interesting, i too am using 11.04 x64 and latest drivers (111017) and have the same issue - just it's on adaptor1. (i am using the 6891 card though) cabling is fine - i've swapped coax feeds, and i get a perfect signal on adaptor0 regardless of which coax cable im using. i'm just recompiling the dri...

i've also found out it's the same as a standard 6pin PCI-E connector as per any newer PSU.
ie: it's the same connector as all graphics cards that use the 6pin power connector.
