did you get remote working?

a good player is Kaffeine does video/music and live tv.

Better pvr solutions would be mytv or xbmc-pvr+tvheadend

tried that veehexx no joy, didnt create tbs-ir device :( im a patient man but lack of support around here is a joke. Next card I buy I'll make sure theres a support network before making a purchase. Sorry for the negativity but wife nagging to get this sorted, if i cant gotta have to buy a setup box...

Do you get anything if you type "dmesg | grep cx88" in terminal?

What app you trying to watch tv in?

Looks interesting and if i edit that guys config files to match my card might just wotk.

All a bit scary still fairly new to ubuntu in general lol.

for what its worth on win7 fastsatfinder is working fine for me.

If it helps any im on Ubuntu 10.10 and have installed lirc via synatic package manager.

Also tried IR remote control setup via ubuntu software center, shows lots of model ir receivers but no combination worked for me
