Re: Future of the Linux-Driver

It seems to build ok. But I get the error which I mentioned earlier when I modprobe. cx23885: Unknown symbol v4l2_i2c_new_subdev_cfg (err 0) Just the one symbol error, or lots more? If just one I can check it's being exported properly. Any chance you can try installing 32bit into a spare partition?...

Is it still not building for you? Or building but failing to work?

I could try it under 64 bit O/S, but probably not for a day or so ...

Re: Future of the Linux-Driver

Yes, those warnings were the ones I mentioned earlier in connection with the AV7110 cards, hopefully they won't have any effect unless you have one of those cards fitted ...

Re: Future of the Linux-Driver

Not sure how I missed v4. I only have the kernel headers installed. Tried v4 with the fix to v4l2-compat-ioctl32.c you mentioned and it still fails to compile. /home/hda/tmp/sat/linux-s2api-tbs6980-1_20101024/linux-s2api-tbs6980_1/v4l/v4l2-compat-ioctl32.c: In function 'native_ioctl': /home/hda/tmp...

Re: Future of the Linux-Driver

v3 seemed to apply fine but build failed. make fails with the following: /home/hda/tmp/sat/linux-s2api-tbs6980-1_20101024/linux-s2api-tbs6980_1/v4l/v4l2-compat-ioctl32.c: In function 'v4l2_compat_ioctl32': /home/hda/tmp/sat/linux-s2api-tbs6980-1_20101024/linux-s2api-tbs6980_1/v4l/v4l2-compat-ioctl3...

Re: Future of the Linux-Driver

Patching is OK. Assembling is... a bit better progressing, but fails: /home/mike/linux-s2api-tbs6980_1/v4l/dmxdev.c: In function 'dvb_demux_ioctl': /home/mike/linux-s2api-tbs6980_1/v4l/dmxdev.c:1094:9: warning: passing argument 4 of 'dvb_usercopy' from incompatible pointer type /home/mike/linux-s2a...

Re: Unable to build driver on Arch Linux with kernel 2.6.36.

Any news on releasing as fully GPL, cleaning up the code as necessary and pushing support to mainline?

Re: Future of the Linux-Driver

OK apologies for the mangled patch, try the V4 http://adslpipe.co.uk/misc/tbs6981-2.6.38.2-v4.patch This patch certainly applies and builds with just harmless warnings (except I can see a potential issue for anyone who *also* has an AV7110 based card in their machine) I haven't booted and run this v...

Re: Kernel 2.6.37

The latest kernel's stable release is 2.6.38 now and such a delay in the driver update (and/or keeping it as semi-closed) would significantly reduce attractiveness of TBS products for a "computer's enthusiasts" community... I agree, if I had realised the driver wasn't fully open source, I...
