The EPG data is transmited with the transport stream, but maybe it's not set.
I'm from Argentina, and from here, all "free to air" signals had not EPG data (Hispasat 30°W, Intelsat805 55.5°W, AMC6 72°W). And signals with suscription service had EPG data (89°W).

Did you ran ".v4l/tbs-x86.sh" before do "make"?
And the error that you post is "Permission denied". Are you root?

This is caused by:
* Small buffer size in Kaffeine (I don't remember how to change it)
* Poor quality or signal. Maybe adjusting your dish and lnb can help. Or with a more big dish.

Can you post the output of "dmesg" when it becomes unstable?

If you are using a Debian like disto, only

# apt-get install mythtv

then, stop mythtv-backend and run mythtv-setup
Configure it, exit from mythtv-setup and run mythfilldatabase
(from memory)
