no signal on SD channels with symbol rate of 27500

Postby abeton » Wed Jun 01, 2011 10:25 pm

Hi,
I have a strange problem with SD channels that use a symbol rate of 27500. HD channels work, also SD channels with a symbol rate of 22000. But sadly no signal at all on 27500 (green diode is off). On the other hand the signal quality for all working channels is very high (dvbviewer 98%).
All SD channels work on a Skystar2 (although with much lower signal quality) on the same connection.

hardware: QBox II, 2 quad-lnb (astra 19.2°, hotbird 13°), multiswitch
software: dvbviewer on win7 ultimate 64 and xp 32, tbs driver 2.0.4.2

Any thoughts?

I have a similar set-up. Which transponders/channels are you not seeing?

DVBViewer Pro does not report signal quality - only strength - but Transedit's "Analyse" function does.

I see. Thanks for taking the time. I tried transedit again (this time as admin) and started a "Scan All" on Astra 19.2°E. My prior tries failed because of "not found hardware".

The first 'black' transponder is 'SKY' with a frequency of 11719, all transponder with a lower frequency work. It seems like all transponders after this one are black too (even the ones with a symbol rate of 22k). Tried also Hotbird, but most transponders don't work. Strangely a transponder with 27.5k symbol rate worked here. So my assumption that this problem is related to the symbol rate is wrong. Also not V/H related. I'm puzzled.

The only working channels (that are in my favorites) are Arte, EinsExtra, EinsPlus, EinsFestival and all HD channels. No ARD, ZDF and all the rest.

11719H has no FTA channels. If you have the FTA filter on the scanner, you won't see anything.

ZDF channels on 11953H SR27500 FEC3/4 are OK with me in Transedit (86% quality in Scotland).
ARD 11836H SR27500 FEC3/4 also OK.

Good idea, but no FTA filter active here in dvbviewer. I scanned both transponders in transedit, no signal (PAT is red all the time, green led on qbox is off).

Your setup fails to receive high band transponders (>11700MHz). Either your card is broken (no 22KHz tone) or your LNB is a very old "analogue" low_band_only type.

LNB should be ok, as all digital SD channels work with my Skystar2 card. With the 'card' you mean the qbox, right?

I'd have suspected the multiswitch if band-switching is a problem, but maybe not if you can get high-band transponders on another receiver. The lower quality is a bit suspicious, though. Maybe try a different multiswitch port?

At any rate, bypass the multiswitch - connecting the QBox direct to one of the LNB outputs should tell you where the problem lies.

I already tested that using a much shorter cable. Same result.

Sigh, no fun with two quad-lnb. I'll try that and report back.

Bingo. I started with 'high band/H" and now I get a signal at ARD 11836H (90%) and ZDF 11953 (85%). So the multiswitch is definitely part of the problem. I have another one here (Technisat). Will test this setting first, before I exchange the multiswitch.

Thanks for all the help!
