Problem with signal, channels crash

Postby limiteddi » Mon Mar 24, 2014 7:32 am

Hello,

I cant seem to figure out what is causing the issue.

Today in the morning femon reported good signal and 0 BER. Started my streams and left the set up for 4 hours.

I came back, so did the issue:

femon -a 0 -H
status SCVYL | signal 64% | snr 100% | ber 0 | unc 0 | FE_HAS_LOCK

status | signal 55% | snr 100% | ber 67108863 | unc 0 |

Any idea what might be the issue here? This happens on 3 servers so hardware fault is ruled out.
Cable length? Cable shorting? Anything I can do to pinpoint the issue?

Hi limitedde.
Did you try using cable of adapter 0 on adapter 1 and viceversa?
Did you check if lnb of adapter 1 are working ok?
Did you check cable continuity?
Did you check output voltage of adapter 1?

Kind regards.

Hi,
i tried all combination, with time same result on all adapters
Same DUAL lnb, checked both outputs directly with STB and meter all works fine.
Not sure how would I check cable continuity?
I did not check output voltage of adapter as this happens accross all servers and doesnt seem to be adapter specific.

Well, if you verified cable of adapter 1 in STB and work fine, the problem are in adapter 1. It's strange if happening on 3 servers, maybe less signal from satellite provider...

Kind regards.

Have you found any solution for your problem?
I have the same with my now 1 year old TBS 6982SE. I realy don't known, when it started.

I've checked the cables by replacing with each other, but i get always the same result:
Code: Select All Code
root@hera:~# femon -a0 -H
FE: TurboSight TBS 6982SE DVBS/S2 frontend (DVBS)
status SCVYL | signal  84% | snr 100% | ber 0 | unc 0 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status SCVYL | signal  84% | snr 100% | ber 0 | unc 0 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status SCVYL | signal  84% | snr 100% | ber 0 | unc 0 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status SCVYL | signal  84% | snr 100% | ber 0 | unc 0 | FE_HAS_LOCK
root@hera:~# femon -a1 -H
FE: TurboSight TBS 6982SE DVBS/S2 frontend (DVBS)
status       | signal   0% | snr  18% | ber 0 | unc 0 |
status       | signal   0% | snr  11% | ber 0 | unc 0 |
status       | signal   1% | snr   8% | ber 0 | unc 0 |
status       | signal  12% | snr  18% | ber 0 | unc 0 |
status       | signal   0% | snr   8% | ber 0 | unc 0 |

The ouput voltage is the same for both and nearly 18V (during scanning).

What can I do next to solve this problem?
Is it posible to disable the defect port from that dual card?
Any suggestion is welcome.
