no audio/video on /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0

Postby nagjames » Tue Apr 15, 2014 11:54 am

Hi All,

I recently purchased a TBS6892 card along with an FTA dish and LNB.
I managed to install the drivers and lock to a signal. For some reason I can’t see Galaxy 19 but to get things going I’m ok with SES-1 101W for now.
My problem is that mplayer is not playing the video/audio on interface /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0

mplayer is not playing the stream while running szap-s2:

looks like dvr0 is empty.
What could be the problem?
How can I troubleshoot this?

Hello James. I found that the szap-s2 command needs the -r flag in order to pass data out to mplayer. See viewtopic.php?f=156&t=8950

I'm glad you got it working ... well working better. Searching for bits and pieces from various forum posts, then trying every possible combination seems to be the only way forward, so far. The guys that know what they are doing seem to be pretty quiet.

Having a good signal helps when trying to sort this stuff out. I have the one meter version of this antenna: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201019568134 , but I'm looking at trying to get a bigger dish. The signal strength seems to be okay but a larger dish also has higher resolution, so that signals from neighboring satellites can be rejected better. On the other hand, dish aiming needs to be more precise. I have a 10 foot C-band dish that needs to be pulled out of the weeds, but I think I want to have Ku on a separate dish. I'd really like to make a six foot fiber glass dish.

Anyway, good luck on your quest.

Finally I found Galaxy 19 and the reception is good.
In San Diego I’m using this 76cm dish:
http://www.amazon.com/FTA-Satellite-Dis ... m+dish+lnb

Working well.
The next one will be a bigger one 90cm for channel surfing.
Would be great to get a c band antenna but my wife wouldn't approve it in the garden. 

BTW can you recommend a blindscan tool which works with the TBS6892?
