Windows 10 tuning issues with 6284

Postby GeeDee » Sat Jan 23, 2021 7:35 pm

Hi
I've been using my 6284 Quad tuner for years with Win8.1 and WMC generally without problems.

Recently moved onto Win10 (still using same driver of 1.0.0.7) and installed NextPVR and having massive problems finding “normal” number of Freeview channels from my local transmitter (63 found with no HD). If I try searching All regions, then I get most of the channels (127) but none of them work owing to poor signal quality.

Somewhat frustrated and thinking this was a NextPVR issue, I went back to my Win8.1 installation (multi-boot), installed NextPVR and had no trouble at all with finding all the Freeview channels (136) on all 4 tuners, including HD which works perfectly.

Is there a reason why this tuner will not work with Win10 when I thought the core software is similar to 8.1?

Your help will be much appreciated.

Thanks
GeeDee

Hi
Could you show me your system info?
the 6284 is too old, some functions may not be compatible with win 10.

Hi, thanks for your response. I really didn't think there was much difference between Win 8.1 and 10 although I guess there must be if it's that causing my problems.

Windows 10 64bit - Previously 8.1 with same following spec
Intel Core i5 6600K @ 3.5GHz
16GB Dual Channel Ram @ 1066MHz
ASUS Z170-A Motherboard with latest BIOS 3802
OS Drive 1TB NVMe M.2
Storage drive 8TB Seagate Barracuda

I have since uninstalled card and driver and reinstalled and had better luck with Freeview channel scan which now include the HD options. However, some channels still not there and I'm finding recorded programs have missing sections between 5 and 15 minutes causing skipping. This happens both in NPVR and VLC which is my preferred viewing option as it offers more playback controls.

Hi Smile
Wondering if there is any movement on this please.

A further update on my part, I now have 51 channels available with 5 HD channels.

Not tested them all but so far all those used are working. However, after a while, recordings fail and Watch Now fails with data not being downloaded. A reboot solves this but somewhat frustrating to find programmes not recorded.

Hi GeeDee
Sorry , i have not got any useful movement for this problem.
But about the record file, i guess maybe you can try as the admin permissions to run the app. and you need know, the recorded file storage directory is best not in c disk.

Best Regards
