How to update MatrixTV system through SD card

Postby steven » Wed May 28, 2014 3:47 pm

Hi All

Good news that new version of MatrixTV already add the update from SD card.
Here is the detail information:

If your Matrix runs MatrixTV V1.0.0.7 or a later version, system update becomes more convenient now, you no longer have to connect it via mini USB cable to the PC and then flash the new OS to eMMC, because MatrixTV V1.0.0.7 and the later versions support update through SD card, and there are just a few easy steps!
1. Prepare a SD card (minimum 2GB).
2. Download the latest MatrixTV OS from our website, copy the OS file to the root directory of the SD card.
Like this:

3. Insert the SD card to the SD card slot on Matrix, power on Matrix, when it starts to update, the blue LED light is flashing, wait about 5 minutes until the update completes, the blue LED light is then off.
4. Power off Matrix, remove the SD card from Matrix.
5. Power on, your Matrix runs now a newer version of MatrixTV.

Note: Only MatrixTV versions 1.0.0.7 or later support this function.

The PDF file you can download it here:

Any question with this ,please reply here :)

Thanks

Kind Regards

Hi

You can download it on our sourceforge here is the link:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/matrixt ... p/download

we change the uramdisk.img name to uupdata.img :)

uImage-m is the kernel need to be updated.
rootfs-m.tar.bz2 is the file system need to be updated.

These files you can get from mfg burn tool image it is in
TBS-MatrixTV-V1.x.x.x\Profiles\MX6Q Linux Update\OS Firmware\files
rootfs.tar.bz2 is the file system file
uImage is the kernel

uImage and uupdate.img is the update system kernle and file system.

Thanks

Sorry to say that but this is not very clear :(

So for upgrading from a SD , we need to download from http://sourceforge.net/projects/matrixt ... /MatrixTV/ :

* MatrixTV-SD3AutoUpdate-Files.zip
* TBS-MatrixTV-V1.x.x.x.zip

Then unzip both files.

In MatrixTV-SD3AutoUpdate-Files, we need to copy uImage and uupdate.img to SD card
In TBS-MatrixTV-V1.x.x.x\Profiles\MX6Q Linux Update\OS Firmware\files, we need to rename uImage to uImage-m and copy it to SD card, copy rootfs.tar.bz2 to SD card

Is that right ?

I think that you PDF need to be refresh : http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document ... e-V2.1.pdf

I have format a 8 Gb SD card using FAT32 filesystem, then copy files from ZIP :

Insert SD, power on MatrixTV but no flashing blue LED. Only blue and green LED alway ON.

Try with switch on RUN and BURN but same thing.

Is there a way to see which OS version is installed ?

Thanks.

Thanks. I will test it this evening.

Do I need to switch from RUN to BOOT/BURN before powering on the MatrixTV with SD card in ?

BTW, how I can I know the version number of my current OS ? Is there a command I can send by SSH ? Or a file I can read ? Or is it displayed in XBMC or at boot time ?

Hi mikebzh44

no ,you do not need to change to burn mode just the normal boot mode.

In XBMC status dialog you can see the build date. : )
and when you login with SSH you can see the build date too.

Thanks
