rossi46, you can install lxde or xfce. My way was: - Open a terminal - sudo apt-get install synaptic - open synaptic - search for xfce - select the xfce meta package an install it. - click the "power button" at upper right corner - select restart. You will land in a login screen - in loginscreen is a small arrow, there you can select your preferred Desktop. - log in and enjoy.
Btw, before I purchased my Matrix board, I ummed and awwed of ages before deciding on my purchase. It was the "Install any OS you like" blurb on the homepage that gave me the final push
