Hi,

I am it literate but have not much knowledge of linux.

I am using ubuntu 14.04.3, a clean install.
My motherboard is asus h110m-a.
My card is tbs6281.

-I have followed all instructions from here, from the manual, and from 3 days of googling, to the best of my ability but i cannot get this installed.

-I have downloaded the correct drivers. I have done the .v4l.sh thing, then make then make install, then remove old media.bak. This process works - the make takes a minute or two. Where appropriate ive done the sudo chmod -x folder etc. I reboot at end.

-Nothing shows after reboot eg sudo dmseg | grep frontend, sudo dmseg | grep registering.
sudo lsdvb brings error "ERROR:opening /sys/class/dvb directory".
sudo lspci does not show card in output
uname-a = 3.19.0-31-generic #36~14.04.1 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux **i see it says 14.04.1 but the iso ive used is 14.04.3

-Motherboard has latest bios. I have tried every motherboard setting relating to the appropriate slot. I have turned off fast boot. I can verify that the card is not faulty.

I have found my lack of knowledge at linux frustrating, the lack of clear concise instructions (that work), and the difficulty of installing a basic card. Can somebody PLEASE give me a set of instructions to install this on a clean ubuntu, or give me commands to test output or something :) It would be much appreciated. Soon i am building a similar micro-computer for the other room and this is swaying my opinion on whether or not to buy the same card.

Thank you for reading, hope you can help

Not too sure about the order of make / install from your description but after the : -

v4l/tbs-x86_64.sh
make

I always have to clear the old media befoe install with:-

sudo mv /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/media ~/media.bak
sudo make install
sudo reboot

To build on what briogoog is saying . . . you can also use the command "sudo make distclean" before building the new drivers.

thanks for replies. still no joy. did brand new ubuntu install, updated, upgraded, then went through installation process (that goes through the motions) but no hardware shows up. big waste of money.

ill try the distclean tomorrow, thanks for the heads up
