I've recently bought a TBS6905 DVB-S2 Quad Tuner PCIe Card, i've installed/compiled the latest Drivers and everything seems ok on Ubuntu 14.02.
dmesg | grep frontend
[ 6.198221] DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6908 DVBS/S2 frontend)...
[ 6.201146] DVB: registering adapter 1 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6908 DVBS/S2 frontend)...
[ 7.404476] DVB: registering adapter 2 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6908 DVBS/S2 frontend)...
[ 7.407641] DVB: registering adapter 3 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6908 DVBS/S2 frontend)...
Originally i was using the latest 3.9xxx version of TVhead, all muxes & Services scanned ok and the card worked perfectly with 2 clients accessing it at the same time. At the time of set up i only used 2 feeds to 2 inputs (although i do have a quad LNB, the other 2 lines are used by my sky box). I have now uninstalled TVhead and am now testing this with Myth TV backend, i'm using Kodi(XBMC) as the client.
For both TVHead & MythTV, i have an issue when a client disconnects and then tries to reconnect, using the TVhead web interface, i could see that once a client disconnects, the following scenario would occur - & i'm presuming this happens for mythTV (although i haven't worked out how to view signal strength/SNR on myth yet):
When the 2nd Client tries to reconnect, both SNR's % for both adapters would drop down to 1-20% (previously before the disconnect they were both at 100%), both (kodi) clients would lose the connection, in the webportal of TVhead it would show it trying to connect in turn to each adapter, but failing- presumably because of the low SNR. Connecting again to the backend (this is for Both TVhead & Myth) will be impossible (Kodi gives a channel does not exist message) until a full reboot.
Using just one client that uses just one adapter, everything works ok. although, on occasions i still have to reboot after a prolong period of not being used e.g 24 hrs. I like to think by testing this on both TVHEAD & MYTH proves that this is not a software issue, which leaves either it being faulty card, drivers or some other config???? I'm unsure where to turn next? i'm quite a noob to linux, any assistance would be gratefully received !
Edit: i've also just looked at my Dmesg -is this relevant?
