TBS6205 Card running hot and loosing packet

TBS6205 Card running hot and loosing packet

Postby sabokesa » Tue Aug 09, 2016 5:17 pm

Hi,

I'm having a TBS6205 quad dvb-c/t card and problems with reception.
I'm using the latest drivers...
After streaming 2 transponders the card gets very very hot in just a few minutes and starts losing packets, rezulting in freezes and glitches ..
The transponders are around 50 Mbit each, Frequencies are 786000 and 778000 MHz, sr 6900..
When i disable one transponder the card returns in "normal" state, no more freezes and packet loss, although the temperature is still very high..
Is it hardware or driver related? Could it be the card itself or perhaps Motherboard / PCIe issue? I also tried moving the card into another PCIe slot, results were the same.

Here are the error logs i found typing dmesg

[69090.282674] pcieport 0000:00:02.0: AER: Corrected error received: id=0010
[69090.282688] pcieport 0000:00:02.0: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Corrected, type=Data Link Layer, id=0010(Transmitter ID)
[69090.284340] pcieport 0000:00:02.0: device [8086:6f04] error status/mask=00001000/00002000
[69090.286032] pcieport 0000:00:02.0: [12] Replay Timer Timeout

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

Have the same problem... The case is not a problem (HPTX tower, Lian Li PCD8000 with 11 fans)
Just testing now, my laser temp get about 75-80° with only one tuner running (on back side, cannot get temp on front side).

I'm very disappointed with TBS products and think about changing my cards...

My 6205 cannot running stable (got glitches), so it's useless (189€ in trash)
My 6680 working fine but don't have open source drivers, so i can't use with 6205 (if i build drivers in DVB-C mode, i cannot use 6205 in DVB-T mode !), again 179€ in trash...

It's time to move, TBS people, seriously...
If you need a SSH access for testing, i can provide it (box on fiber, you can get good speed for whatever you want to test)

For temp, i'm here ! :)
As for drivers problems and continuity counter error, the ssh would be fine

Hi,

Indeed, I'm also very disappointed with the product, I bought a quad tuner card but barely can use just half tuners at the same time.
My server is in an airconditioned server room with 20 degrees Celsius...
It seems like it is hardware issue, many people complain for the quad tuner cards..

I'm also open for any kind of testing, if You need some more info, or would like to try out a new driver or whatever, just let me know.

Regards,

@skrew Did You try to change motherboard perhaps? or try the card in a different PC/SERVER ? Maybe some PCIe tweaks are needed in the BIOS ?

What you suggest as an alternative?

Any other similar products from other companies?
