Confusing mode documentation

I'm very confussed about selecting modes in TBS6909, i'm under Ubuntu 16
I have two TBS6909 cards on my server, and both always work multiswitch mode. I want to make both work on normal mode. (each imput controls two tunners)
I found pdf's that are say a lot of different things:
in one say that need to create this file
/etc/modprobe.d/tbs.conf
and put inside that:
options tbs_pcie-dvb tbs6909_mode=0
In other pdf, it suggest to create this file:
/etc/modprobe.d/mxl5xx.conf
and put inside that:
options mxl5xx mode=0
but also i found another pdf that say's the mode is 1, instead of 0.
This is very confussing and i cannot get the cards work in the mode i want (normal)
Someone can help me to clarify this?
