TBS 6903 tested by DXer

Further investigations on this:

1. I found TBS 6983 V20 without metal cover/shield for tuner. It got no problems with FEC 1/2 and 2/3 in CrazyScan/EBS Pro (despite lack of metal cover, in EBS Pro in BLScan2 mode)
2. I found TBS 6903 V12 with metal cover/shield for tuner. It still got problems with FEC 1/2 and 2/3 in CrazyScan/EBS Pro (only in BLScan2 mode)

So looks like not related to tuner shield. At this point, because 6983 even without metal shield got no problems and in 6903 there are no problems with TBS BlindScan I believe that this is bug in BLScan2 mode in StreamReader from crazycat (maybe related to some changes in TBS driver between 6983 and 6903, about which crazycat got no informations from TBS).

In my opinion there are two different and unrelated problems:
1. FEC 1/2 and 2/3 (DVB-S) in BLScan2 mode at StreamReader from crazycat.
2. In BLScan mode in StreamReader in 6903 for some reason step for blindscan is tied with search range (it was not for example for Prof8000), thus 1 MHz step will result with 1 MHz search range for carrier and will often fail for high SR (maybe related to HW design?), in other hand higher step for BlindScan will increase chances to miss low SR transmissions, so it is need to do some compromise on this (2 MHz seems doing the best) or blindscan some ranges twice with higher and lower step.

Probably that's the last my post on this as I see that nobody is interested to improve this which is really disappointing :(

There is report from Peon that 6903 V12 finds transporders dvb- s fec 2/3 on 13 east with Ebspro blindscan streamreader .1400 . Peon wrote that crazyscan still cannot find them, so the problem is now limited to crazyscan.

Nope, for me it's not. EBS Pro had always find FEC 1/2 and 2/3 but in BLScan mode (which is suffering search range/step problem). Need to check it on BLScan2 mode. And same is for CrazyScan - FEC 1/2 and 2/3 can be found if BlindScan2 is not enabled.

There are two blindscan modes in both CrazyScan and EBS Pro:
- BLScan - direct HW control
- BLScan2 - TBS blindscan wrapper

Results are related to mode selected in both apps and to test it correctly and spot issues it's important to select correct mode.

When testing BLScan - step/carrier search = 1 MHz will show high SR issue (and like I said - 2 MHz will give better results, but that's not a solution, because this will result in degradation of low SR results)
When testing BLScan2 - no special steps (beside FEC 1/2 or 2/3 transponder).

Both apps - EBS Pro and CrazyScan use the same functions with the same StreamReaderEx library and if anybody got different results in both apps - clearly got different options for both. Both apps with same settings must give same results, because they are using the same engine and both are calling the same functions inside library in the same way.

I hope that Peon or Sato comment on 6903 V12 and ebspro blindscan (fec 2/3 dvb-S ).

There are pros and cons:
- pros: better isolation, less noise
- cons: overheating

I have tested both versions (with and wothout metal cover) and I see no advangates of metal cover. But in my opinion both versions will do as much as they can (beside bugs :P )

6903 is the best (no matter which version) from all DVB cards released ever. It's just pity that it could be even better, but there is no interest from anybody to push the limit higher :/

Fixed in test StreamReaderEx-BDA 1.2.4.28

P.S. Issue applicable also to 6905/8
