Debian 9 "Stretch" 4.9.0-13-amd64

Postby 1bit » Sat Oct 10, 2020 1:18 am

OK, so I have latest kernel version "4.9.0-13-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.228-1 (2020-07-05) x86_64 GNU/Linux"
and I am trying to get the drivers installed, but no joy.

I have uninstalled all the other kernels I had on the system
linux-image-4.9.0-3-amd64 to linux-image-4.9.0-12-amd64 and the
linux-headers-4.9.0-12-amd64 | linux-headers-4.9.0-12-common and older as well.

$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Debian
Description: Debian GNU/Linux 9.13 (stretch)
Release: 9.13
Codename: stretch

I have latest kernel headers installed:
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
Code: Select All Code
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
linux-headers-4.9.0-13-amd64 is already the newest version (4.9.228-1).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

And tried some of the media files I have found around this forum:
cd ~/Install
wget http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document/linux/media_build-2020-07-07.tar.bz2
sudo rm -rf /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/media/
tar jxvf media_build-2020-07-07.tar.bz2
cd media_build
sudo ./install.sh
sudo reboot

no joys

#wget http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document/linux/media_build-2020-08-27.tar.bz2
sudo rm -rf /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/media/
tar jxvf media_build-2020-08-27.tar.bz2
cd media_build
sudo ./install.sh
sudo reboot

no joy

wget http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document/linux/media_build-2020-09-23.tar.bz2
sudo rm -rf /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/media/
tar jxvf media_build-2020-09-23.tar.bz2
cd media_build
sudo ./install.sh
sudo reboot

Here is the copy of the install log:
https://commie.io/#2EIL4LXu

Could someone explain what is it that is going wrong here?

I see first error on line 138 - 146:
Code: Select All Code
Can't find ../../media/Makefile at ./use_dir.pl line 287.
Makefile:132: recipe for target 'apply_patches' failed
make[2]: *** [apply_patches] Error 2

make[1]: *** [stagingconfig] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/donald/Install/media_build/v4l'
Makefile:26: recipe for target 'stagingconfig' failed
make: *** [stagingconfig] Error 2

is it where the problem is here?

Then again lines 154-163:
Code: Select All Code
Syncing with dir ../../media
Can't find ../../media/Makefile at ./use_dir.pl line 287.
Makefile:132: recipe for target 'apply_patches' failed

Then there is something about kernel 4.10
Code: Select All Code

So tried to build it according to this post:
#How to install linux driver
viewtopic.php?f=86&t=9875

and here is the full log:
https://commie.io/#RDENN7Fa

Here is the commands:

cd ~/Install
wget https://www.tbsiptv.com/download/common/tbs-linux-drivers_v170330.zip
mkdir tbs-linux-drivers_v170330
unzip tbs-linux-drivers_v170330.zip -d tbs-linux-drivers_v170330
cd tbs-linux-drivers_v170330
tar jxvf linux-tbs-drivers.tar.bz2
cd linux-tbs-drivers
sudo ./v4l/tbs-x86_64.sh
sudo rm -rf /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/media/*
sudo make

and the error msg. at the end:
