TBS-5520SE /dev/dvb/adapter0 gone missing

Postby maff » Sat Jun 10, 2017 3:29 am

Had a TBS-5520SE for a couple of weeks, and other than a little teething trouble with Mythtv assuming there is a a demux1 if you use frontend1 it's been working a really well!

However last night I rebooted and /dev/dvb/adapter0 has vanished.

Can someone give me some pointers as to what to check?

I'm using the latest drivers from https://github.com/tbsdtv/linux_media/wiki

Which compiled and installed happily.

and indeed /dev/dvb does not exist anymore.

I've tried different usb ports... but no luck.

Any help much appreciated!

My bad, had updated from \
4.4.0-78-generic
to
4.4.0-79-generic

and had been running the instructions from here: https://github.com/tbsdtv/linux_media/wiki from the section: Upgrading sources and re-installing. But that just kept building new 4.4.0-78-generic driver versions.

Deleting media & media_build and re-running the Downloading and building instructions from scratch fixed the problem (drivers for 4.4.0-79-generic).

You live and learn.

@maff,

Thank you effort.

Is this study, for TBS5520SE driver file ? And is it make BlindScan ?

I installed the crazycat's blindscan driver. And it looks like in the picture;

That is, when the 5520SE is connected to the USB port, an "unknown device" warning is issued.

But the TV card is working normally.

Do you have any idea about this problem ? ( unknown device )
