then you look in the git for tbs5520 nothing was change and firmware file not include

we get privat the firmware file but not better, its same as the crasycats changes with include fw in the header files.

we have now two different issues with different mipsel boxen

gigablue quad plus
dvb-fe-tool -a 0 -f 2
Device TBS 5520 (/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend2) capabilities:
CAN_FEC_1_2
CAN_FEC_2_3
CAN_FEC_3_4
CAN_FEC_4_5
CAN_FEC_5_6
CAN_FEC_6_7
CAN_FEC_7_8
CAN_FEC_8_9
CAN_FEC_AUTO
CAN_GUARD_INTERVAL_AUTO
CAN_HIERARCHY_AUTO
CAN_INVERSION_AUTO
CAN_QAM_16
CAN_QAM_64
CAN_QAM_AUTO
CAN_TRANSMISSION_MODE_AUTO

and stops responding then get the info

with mutant hd2400 we see this

dvb-fe-tool -a 0 -f 2
Device vtuner (/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend2) capabilities:
CAN_INVERSION_AUTO
DVB API Version 5.10, Current v5 delivery system: UNDEFINED
ERROR driver returned 0 supported delivery systems!

get a error then get the info

try my fixes :)

Thanks to crazycat I finally got my 5520 working - sort of!

The problem I have is that tvheadend can see dvb-t and dvb-s tuners but can only use one of them per session - i.e. I have to untick 'enable' on the dvb-s tuner to stream anything in dvb-t and vice versa.

I ended up sticking in an extra usb-stick dvb-t tuner I had lying around to take over the functionality of the 5520 dvb-t box.

(ps this is my first foray into linux and I'm enjoying it - headless nuc with ubuntu server. Should have done it years ago!)

It's really great the idea of returning different capabilities per mode.

This will solve some issues like FE_CAN_MULTISTREAM. eg there is multistream support for DVB-T2 but not for DVB-S2(X).

Well done guys ;)

I think all multitype tuners should report the caps per mode! It would be nice if that get's accepted by kernel.

Sorry I have no idea what is wrong with USB errors.

USB errors also occurs on TBS5980 / TBS5925 :(

My experience was better, after putting fan to TBS5980 to keep the card cooler, but soon or late I have to unplug the card due to many USB errors.

I think TBS should have a look on making their product better for receivers as well. Also sometime we need to have drivers from kernel.org and not fighting with patches ...

Hi all,

I need help with my TBS5520 tuner. Since I upgraded my Linux system from 3.x kernel to 4.x kernel (due to distro upgrade) I'm unable to tune DVB-T, only DVB-S. I have tried with CrazyCat open source drivers and it compiles fine. I've tried with many other TV software like VLC, Kaffeine, ... I only can tune DVB-S. Command line utilities like scan cannot find any DVB-T channel too. For example in Kaffeine when I scan for tune in DVB-T the signal level peaks a pair of seconds but not peaks SNR level. The TBS5520 works OK in Windows 10 with DVB-T and DVB-S so the tuner hasn't any hardware problem.
When it tries to tune DVB-T in 4.x environment it seems like a kind of timeout or signal level value is too short to detect TV signal maybe due to my DVB-T home installation offers low level signal but I think in Windows should be the same but it works fine in Windows.

Has anyone the same issue? Thanks in advance.

Regards.
