TBS 6522 tests

Postby sato » Thu Aug 11, 2016 8:30 pm

Me and Peon (alias Onacila) are known to our colleagues as hard core DXers who test their satellite hardware to the limits. When Tenow has launched their new TBS 6522 card we were curious what can we receive with it and how it "behave" in everyday use. I must say that this multistandard card is more then a piece of hardware than nicely replaces ordinary single DVB-T or DVB-S cards, but at the same time gives something extra to its owner.

There will be more results of our tests and description of its limits so every satellite enthusiast can see the cards features in real life experience.
These results will be uploaded one by one as Peon compares this card to his TBS 6983, 6903, 5925 and Prof 7301 that are installed on his PC he uses for DXing. Peon also searches for suitable signals in C, Ku and Ka band.

What we know so far:

- No driver or device issues even all cards mentioned above are installed and physically present or running
- TBS 6522 has 4 inputs (2xDVB-S & 2x DVB-T), but because of 2 demodulators used you can use the following combinations only: 2xDVB-S, 2x DVB-T or 1xDVB-S + 1x DVB-T
- Blind Scan is as good as in the top model 6903, but very slow right now. We believe that Crazy Cat`s Stream Reader or new drivers can improve that.
- Great frequency accuracy. Frequencies are very close to those listed on http://en.kingofsat.net/satellites.php (2 decimal places: 11178.50) or by NIT and this card is beaten only by TBS 5925! Even 6983/6903 are worse. Used Lnb : NJR 2842S.
- Flawless reception of 16APSK
- Lowest SR that has been received so far is SR 468 (This isn`t the card`s limit! We`ll keep searching for lower SR that the card accepts...)
- Multistream reception

"can this card receive FM band (from 88mhz to 108mhz) ?"

TBS 6522 is a DVB-T card and you want to receive analougue FM band.... For this purpose look for SDR radio (RTL2832U, R820T or R820T2 chipset). They`re cheap and can do more than you can imagine...

Anyway, we continue to post additional information as previously promised.

- Maximum SR 45000 (so far)
- No hardware/driver issues even when used with other cards

hi guys,
i have TBS6983 and TBS6522 and tbs6220 installed on my MacPro (Windows 7x64)
i just started to test the TBS6522 and the first thing
that i saw TBS6983-tuners high sensitivity (or it is a driver issue and TBS6522 needs better driver) Strange thing with SNR levels. Check screenshots. EBSpro have a little bit problem with TBS6522…

what i’ve done….

Installed TBS6522 driver 1.0.0.2 from TBS

TBS6522 DVB-S/S2 on DVBViewer and DVB Dream doesnt work and channel scan gives 0 channel(s)

[they do see the transponder and LOCK is ok but scan gives me 0 channels. Signal quality 80/90]

update: i uninstalled SDRplay drivers (it uses BDA-interface, can it be the cause of this strange problem?). And now it works. founds channels. Transedit works too.

TBS6522 DVB-T/T2 function: no luck… it sees the signal but scan gives 0 channels. on Both DVB-T and DVB-T2. Tried with DVBviewer and DVB Dream and Transedit.

(PS: tbs6220 works perfect under all applications with this driver “TBS6220 DVB-T2/T Windows Driver V1.0.1.2” all those (DVBViewer, DVB Dream and Transedit) sees that there is a DVB-T2 tuner in present. installing “TBS6220 DVB-T2/T/C Combined Driver V1.0.1.2.” brokes functionality. LOCK is ok, no channels under DVBViewer, DVB Dream and Transedit.

Uninstalled all drivers (tbs6983,tbs6522 and TBS6220). Removed TBS6220 from computer.
Left tbs6983 and tbs6522.. Installing first driver for tbs6522 and left tbs6983 without driver. Trying tbs6522 DVB-S/S2.. Oups now it is broken again. Same problem [there is transponder and LOCK is ok but scan gives me 0 channels. Signal quality 80/90]

No luck with DVB-T/T2 function (what is the problem :S).

Installing tbs6983. Nothing changed.

tbs6983 worked/works perfect under all circumstances.

Am i missing something?

i have some updates
what ive done since yesterday..

i tested my hardware under windows 10x64.

At first DVBviewer and DVB Dream acted exactly like they did on my windows 7 computer, i restarted the computer several times and changed back and forward between stream reader and bda ect.. i dont know what i did but DVB-S/S2 workign -kinda- I believe that there somehting wrong with TBS6522 drivers.

DVB-T/T2 no luck...With Crazyscan and streamreader i can read the stream and use VLC to see the content.

i really wonder which application uses tbs, i can maybe set up a similar system and can use my tbs6522 hassle-free on my computer.

this card is new and im sure that TBS will release new drivers. ill be waiting for it

Hello all,

I also have a TBS6522 under Windows 10 64bits and have the driver 1.0.0.2 as well. But the DVB-T:T2 does not work so well...

If I try to scan the frequencies with standard viewer ("Team Media Player" or "DVBViwer Pro demo" or "DVB Dream v2.7.7 OEM") it is impossible to found any signal. :o

But, is I use first "CrasyScan2" for standard scan + scan one valid frequnecy, then the driver look like to be well initialized... I'm now able to scan and found all the TV channels with any of standard viewer... :P

Propably that there is something missing withe the driver :?: :?: :?:

Could you try the same on your side ?

Regards
