tbs6980 started to show "no signal"

Postby dynamic » Sat Aug 20, 2011 7:12 am

Hi,
I am using the tbs6980 card since begin of 2010 and so far quite satisfied - until today.
Today all of a sudden the card started to show "no signal" on a single channel ( Nick on Astra19.2 ), which my kids immediately discovered.

As I couldn't really figure out the reasons I thought to check my "Mediaportal" configuration and as I couldn't find anything obvious, I decided to reboot the system. Ever since I am receiving "no signal" on all channels.
In the meantime, I have upgraded the driver to 2.0.0.19 but no change. Re-installed DVBdream ( as this usually works without issues ) and tested - nothing!!

I am now wondering, whether the 6980 may have a problem - is there any tool that one could use to do a HW level check on health status of the tbs6980 ?

Everything else on the system ( Asrock A330ION,W7 Ultimate 64bit, 4GB RAM, Mediaportal ) appears to be running just fine.

I checked the signal from the LNB, which looks OK as another SAT-Receiver works without issues with the signal.

Can anyone help or give advise as to how one can locate the problem and detect if there are possible HW issues ?

Regards

Hi

Would you mind try this driver:

and give us your test report.

Thanks

@Steven
Sorry not responding earlier ( was on a business trip ).
This looks to be the driver Version 2.0.0.19 ? That one I had already tried with no result.

I have in the meantime done many activities ( including a brand new installation from scratch, to exclude the possibility of a W7 upgrade messing up things ) and the card started to work INTERMITTENTLY. At the moment, it show signals from one LNB but is unable to switch to my second LNB.

Hi steven,

yes, I seem currently to have a problem with one LNB only. In the meantime I checked my LNBs and one seems to have "drawn water" during one of the recent storms we had here.
I have ordered two new LNBs now and currently waiting for delivery after which I will hopefully be able to tell what the issue was.

I am now wondering whether this may also have been the root cause for my initial problem, that one defective LNB could have had side effects avoiding tuning of the DVB-S2 card on any LNB and TP ?!

Will update once I have been able to put in the new LNBs.

THanks so far!
