Hello

I have got a 6981 tv card and it has been working fine for the last maybe 2 years in my old PC. I have recently upgraded it to a Asus P8H77 with Intel Core i5-3570K (Ivy Bridge) with 4gb memory. The TV card will install fine but when i am scanning for channels within Windows 7 Media Center the system crashes without fail. I have tried 32bit and 64bit. Media center always gets to the point where it displays 3 dots in its progress bar then the system reboots. I have tried a blackgold TV card in the same slot on the motherboard and this works fine.

The motherboards reports a power surge, i tried turning off the power protection in the motherboard, but this hasn't helped.

I have updated the motherboards bios to the latest revision

I have rebuilt my old PC to test that the card still works and it works perfectly. I am using a 600w power supply.

I have returned the motherboard to the supplier for testing but i am not that hopeful that they will find a fault.

Any Ideas

Thank you
Peter

Hi PeteT.
I'm not fully user of window, but I have same problems. I usually use linux and I have "segments faults", I thought the problem was microprocessor but the problem was in ram module.
I could check it using memtest of a linux livecd. Maybe you can try it too.

Best regards.

A bit of an update

I returned the motherboard and memory to the supplier where they found a fault with the motherboard. I now have a P8Z77-V LX with new memory and this has been tested. I still get the same fault

I have tried the driver 2.0.1.1 and 2.0.1.3

Please help

Do you have the power connector on the card connected? If you have a spare PCIe power connector on your PSU you can use that, or else use the supplied PCIe - Molex connector instead.

The card needs a solid 12V supply to power the LNB's, and especially during scanning when it's continually switching between H and V polarization, it seems to consume more power for some reason.
