TBS6981 Remote Control

Postby blckcat » Wed Sep 29, 2010 5:00 pm

Hi there,

i own a TBS6981 and use it with a yavdr linux distribition.

My problem, I get no input device for the integrated remote controller of TBS card to configure lirc.

The driver 1.92.2 loads correct (don't be confused, i use also a 'Terratec Cinergy T USB XXS, and this one creates a/dev/input device):

hello Michael,

driver that includes support for the integrated remote controller of TBS 6981 card is ready for few weeks now, but i'm too busy with other tasks and not able to finish and publish the driver update. please, be patient, very soon there will be Linux driver update that adds support for the integrated remote controller of TBS 6981.

thank you,
cody

Hi cody,

What about the remote controller of the TBS 6980? Is there any chance it could work? Thanks

of course, no worries, it will include remote control support for all PCI-Express cards - TBS 6981, 6980 and 6920.

Thanks Cody. This will just let me abandon the idea of buying a new remote to work with my yavdr:)

yes, it's not necessary, just a little more patience - i hope in the next week there will be enough time to finish it.

Hello Cody,

did you have found the time to finish the the driver with the included remote-control-support this week ?
Is there any chance for me to download it already ? What will be the version number ?
I wanted to setup a new VDR-system this weekend but without remote control it makes no sense in the living room...

Kind Regards,
Martin

Hi DigiMR,

Yesterday I read that Cody said that he still needs few days to finish that driver with the remote control support. Unless he makes it this weekend which is unlikely, rhen we have to wait perhaps on Monday.

Hi Cody,

many thanks for the new linux driver (linux-s2api-tbs6980-1_20101024.rar). I tested it the last tow days and it works great. But i have found tow little errors within the remote control functionality:

When i press the 'Mode' key on the remote controller, i got no answer and i found the following messages in /var/log/messages:

Oct 25 19:13:18 vdr kernel: [ 2856.178525] cx23885 IR (TurboSight TBS 6981): unknown key: key=0x9b down=1
Oct 25 19:13:19 vdr kernel: [ 2856.448026] cx23885 IR (TurboSight TBS 6981): unknown key: key=0x9b down=0
Oct 25 19:13:19 vdr kernel: [ 2856.939698] cx23885 IR (TurboSight TBS 6981): unknown key: key=0x9b down=1
Oct 25 19:13:20 vdr kernel: [ 2857.540085] cx23885 IR (TurboSight TBS 6981): unknown key: key=0x9b down=0
Oct 25 19:13:20 vdr kernel: [ 2857.782297] cx23885 IR (TurboSight TBS 6981): unknown key: key=0x9b down=1
Oct 25 19:13:20 vdr kernel: [ 2858.164029] cx23885 IR (TurboSight TBS 6981): unknown key: key=0x9b down=0
Oct 25 19:13:21 vdr kernel: [ 2858.476431] cx23885 IR (TurboSight TBS 6981): unknown key: key=0x9b down=1
Oct 25 19:13:21 vdr kernel: [ 2858.752036] cx23885 IR (TurboSight TBS 6981): unknown key: key=0x9b down=0

And there is also another key, that gives no answer: the 'Yellow'-or 'Zoom'-Key. Whenever i press it, there is no answer and no error log. I test the infrared-diode with my handy camera and i could see the light.

I used the lirc-irrecord tool to identify the remote key codes and generate a lirrcd.conf.

Please check the behavior. Is it possible, that i can got the right two key codes from you, that i can change that values in the open part of source code of the and recompile it?

greetings

Michael
