Thanks smv1210
I shall give your method a try.
Does this overcome the problems people seem to be having with the file permissions posted above?

At least, I have not had reported issues, while compiling the driver as a "root" (sudo -s)

I have a new install of Ubuntu 11.10 64bit, just installed the TBS6981 driver from your site, all seemed to install OK but after the reboot I get

OK I have fixed that. I had run everything with sudo, started again and used sudo su to get to root and it has worked in that it can now see the card.

Then in scan.c I had to comment out the section that looked for DVB_API_VERSION being 5.1

I am now stuck again when I try to scan for channels. This is what I get

Code: Select All Code
myth@umyth:/usr/local/src/tbs6981$ szap-s2/szap-s2 -c astra_szap-s2.conf -a 2 -p -r -S 0 "BBC"
reading channels from file 'astra_szap-s2.conf'
zapping to 3 'BBC':
delivery DVB-S, modulation QPSK
sat 0, frequency 11597 MHz V, symbolrate 22000000, coderate auto, rolloff 0.35
vpid 0x00a3, apid 0x005c, sid 0x2742
using '/dev/dvb/adapter2/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter2/demux0'

and it just hangs.

Any ideas?

The topic's name: "Linux Driver for Kernel 3.x Released" has to be changet to less optimistic one - "Linux Driver for Kernel 3.0.x Released", since it is not compiling on 3.2 kernel

I can't find any message relate with TBS 6921 hardware,it seems your main board can't find the TBS 6921.
Please try to clean up the 6921's PCIE connection golden pin with rubber .
Or you can try to update the main board's BIOS,some earlier BIOS don't support PCIE1.0a.
Regards!

Hi,

I get the same kernel oops during boot as others have been getting (TBS6984, using the v111118 driver on Ubuntu 11.10, kernel 3.0.0-15, x86_64), but unfortunately the file hosting site you use no longer allows users to share files so I can't try the updated version.

Is there somewhere else you could put it for me to pick up? Or perhaps you could email me the changes if they're small enough?

Are they likely to make it to the main download site soon?

Cheers,

Simon.
