@Cody; I doubt that the loop through configuration has a major influence on the blind scan results. With the same configuration most low_sr_carriers are scanned just fine with the correct parameters in transedit. I get the impression that firmware and driver contain some severe implementation bugs (e.g. pll filter design).

Maybe 6921 and 8921 are different, so I will explain in the 8921_thread.

Well, I"ve been playing with the blindscan tool for a bit and have found out a few things:
I've locked a low SR of 1663 and high SR of 31250 with the 8921 in Transedit but the BS tool doesn't scan them in. It looks like the card is capable but the tool doesn't see them. Would it be possible to slow the scan as an option? It is missing not only high and low SR transponders but a lot that fall in the middle. I've been scanning on non DBS satellites so a wide variety of transponder parameters are being scanned....SR''s vary widely.
I find the BS Tool confusing, I need my calculator handly to figure out if the carrier frequencies are correct as they seem to change if 22khz is set to on or off and if I am scanning c band or ku band frequencies. Wouldn't going with mhz only, be simpler rather than mixing khz and mhz? It makes my head spin. :D
I am using a 4x1 DiSEqC switch to move between c band and ku band as I have a dual c/ku lnbf on a prime focus dish. It would be nice to be able to select DiSEqC port 1-4(at least) so I can move between the bands without having to keep connecting coax's directly to the 8921 by-passing the switch. I'm sure there must be other people with multiple dishes/lnbs who would need to be able to switch between them.
Is the BS tool releasing the lnb on exit? It seems after using the tool, then starting another dvb app, then exiting out of it will put the computer into a re-boot, eveytime, doesn't matter which app.
I've been using my Vantage 1100S to compare blind scan results with the BS Tool, so far the Vantage is finding a lot more Transponders.

@starman345,

By and large you've confirmed my findings. Just to make clear, do you own a 6921 or 8291? I've had a lot BSODs at well, which will be another point of investigations.
IMHO, just slowing down the scan by longer locking time outs won't solve the problem.

I have the 8921, see my signature at the bottom of my posts. I have no clue how the tool is written, slowing down the scan may do nothing as you say, hopefully Cody will weigh in on the subject.

I guess you've selected automatic restart after a system crash ;) The BS_Tool is so badly programmed that once you have used it, the system (at least my XP SP3) will crash every time after another application using the card (8921) is closed. I can not understand that a responsible manufacturer releases such a dangerous crap. It's far from even beta status

ps.
after a couple of crashes and restarts, I've lost my tevii card and I had to reinstall the driver.

enough is enough

I've updated the blind scan tool with the new version 2.0.1.2 (was 2.0.0.9) from http://www.tbsdtv.com/english/Download.html

Now it's possible to enter IF in MHz and the crash problem seems to be solved. Remains the poor performance. No small bandwidth carriers are found. Same for extreme wideband transponders.

once again i want to thank all of you for providing feedback here. the blind-scan feature was considered nice-to-have feature, but at least based on the comments here it seems to be considered by the customers as the main feature of the new 8921/6921/5921 boards. anyway, it also seems lab tests don't reflect real-life performance. do you have Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) only with TBS 8921 and only when use the BSTool? or is that solved in new version 2.0.1.2 available on the website? i just want to collect as much information as possible.

Yes, the blind scan is the main feature of the 8921 for me its why I bought the card. I've had no more re-booting problems since installing the new version 2.0.1.2.

I checked the "Main Features" of the 8921 on the site and noticed that the number 2 feature - Transponder blind scan was in red....all others in black. That one feature, the only one being in red kind of draws attention to it? I have other cards, I bought this one because of that feature in red.
Thanks for the 2.0.1.2 version, being able to do a full sweep of both polarities is a nice option. I did a scan on Satmex 5, a bird with a lot of low SR channels, the BS tool only managed to log 2 transponders, both of them vertical... kind of discouraging. :(
I've been playing with Transedit and have managed to scan in a low SR of 1480 and a high of 32363 with the 8921 card. Both of them took about 15 seconds to get a lock.
