TBS5930 multistream failure can anyone help

Postby digitaldvd » Fri Apr 19, 2024 4:23 pm

Hi All just received my tbs5930 and connected up and loaded multistream service which at first seem to work but after some time changing channels it would start to break up picture pixelating green screen etc. so i turned system off then booted up again but this time same problem,i also have good signal'.level
If i run the nhk cband servce which is HD i have no problem receiving also on ku band freeview SD channels no problem.
So i reloaded ts5930 drivers still wont decode multistream ,then after more testing i got pictures back again but after turning pc off could not get pictures, same problem again with picture breakup and pixilation.
I have another usb dvbs2 unit different company and have no issues receiving multistream im also using and acer desktop running windows11.
I have tried dvbprog dvb dream and both have given the same problem,.
Question .Is it a driver issue with windows 11 or a hardware issue why does it work then it does not work as stated sd channels and hd channels no problem.
Any Advise Thanks

What is your signal level in the problematic device? For DVB-S2/16APSK 4/5 it should reach at least 11dB.
Another problem (quite significant) is the maximum bandwidth of the USB bus in the TBS5930.

Total bitrate ~140mbit, 5 input streams ~28mbit each.
Extremal conditions for M88RS6060 chip
  • Demodulation types: QPSK, 8PSK, 8APSK-L, 16APSK(-L), 32APSK(-L)
  • Channel bit rate up to 180 Mbps
  • Symbol rate from 1 Msps to 45 Msps QPSK, 8PSK, 8APSK-L,16APSK
  • 32APSK(-L): up to 38 Msps

Thanks for the reply's
I have had no problem locking into the signal with the tbs5930.
Signal level 11db-12.5db depending on conditions
First comment re the maximum bandwidth of the USB bus in the TBS5930 ,if this is a possible issue why not mention this under the specifications that high sym may cause some issues.
I bought this unit because i followed the specifications, obviously this is not the case.
If there is a possible usb bus issue why does it work sometimes ,off course most off the time its is not working, but when it displays a picture there is no issue ,had it running for an hour on one channel and no issues but when i changed to another channel picture would break up green screen and then could not get channel back after reboot ?
I mentioned that i had another usb device that is working without any issue using a wintv nova s2 hauppauge usb device.
I was hoping it might just be a driver issue not a hardware issue perhaps tbs needs to see what chipset hauppauge is using :)
One other thing i have noticed and this may or may not be an issue is when i plug into the usb port the tbs5930 initialisers twice where as other usb devices i plug in only initialise once ?
Ok thanks for your comments

A similar problem with unstable stream in USB device occurred when changing the FEC from 5/6 (111Mbit) to 8/9 (119Mbit)

This not Cypress FX2 USB issue, you have only 30mbit for selected ISI.

Or you scan multistream transponder withot ISI selection ?

P.S. What wintv nova s2 hauppauge usb device with multistream support ?
