TBS6980 & 5 Crstal Pheonix/Smartmouse Card reader problems

Postby Fushie » Tue Jun 08, 2010 9:37 pm

Hi all

I apologize if I have posted this in the wrong section of the forums, I felt it was most suitable since there is no section for the card readers alone.

I recently purchased the Dual Tuner and the Pheonix/Smartmouse card reader to use in Australia to decrypt then watch our satellite paytv service. I would like to point out that I am a valid and paying subscriber and only wish to use my computer to watch the service instead of using the companies set top box

I have been unable to get the card reader to be able to read the subscriber card at all (not even using the DVB-S2 card yet, just the card reader). I am currently using the card reader on a computer running linux Ubuntu, and for the card decryption I am using Oscam. I would like to point out that the hardware and software configuration I am using is successfully used by other people here in Australia.

When I look at the Oscam logs to identify the problem, the software initializes OK, it knows about the card reader that is attached, it then detects that a card is inserted but it then fails to activate the card.

I would like to be able to test the card reader and was hoping someone here could provide me with a test that is independent of any software (oscam). This way I can work out if there is a hardware problem with my card reader or a software configuration problem.

The switch settings I am using on the card reader are as follow (recommend by someone using this card reader in the same environment)
3.3v - Phoenix - 3.579MHz - Y5

any assistance would be greatly appreciated

I have also attached a copy of my oscam logs below
