Drivers for 2.6.38 / Ubuntu 11.04

Postby grandmastermarclar » Sun Apr 10, 2011 11:52 pm

Hi,

Any news of when these are likely to be available, for use with Ubuntu 11.04?

What about posting betas here? I'm happy to (electronically) sign any NDAs if needed, and provide any bug reports...

These drivers are the only thing holding me back from upgrading from 10.10.

I'd much prefer to be testing code heading towards the version that will eventually be released, not some clever patch that'll never be supported.

I've been involved in testing before, on an off for twenty years. It's easy enough to report defects, with all the supporting information the developers need. Depending on who you're dealing with they're usually prompt to respond with fixes and/or feedback.

TurboSight, how can I formally apply to be one of your external testers? Have you thought about running some kind of open beta testing programme...?

Wakey wakey, TBS...

Ubuntu 11.04 is out. Officially. That means kernel 2.6.38. Now.

Where are your drivers? 32 and 64 bit?

From what I can tell, https://shop.tbsdtv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=110 has descended into unfathomable hackery.

I recall mention a couple of months back that TBS were about to release a DVB-T2 solution with linux support, and that they were to be updating all of their linux drivers to support 2.6.38.

ALL has gone quiet... Not even a progress report. Perhaps we should all go elsewhere, too?

I found this thread while doing a web search for Ubuntu 11.04 drivers. When can we expect kernel 2.6.38 support? I only bought my TBS6920 six weeks ago. I sure hope there is on-going support.

Successfully built and installed a TBS6980 using the patch presented by AndyBurns in the 6981 Linux forum on natty.

Much happier now.

The link posted above doesn't work on kernels past 2.6.35.

awww that's awesome! the day my mythbuntu install dies, along come 11.04 (or rather the release 11.04 kernel) drivers! :D

thanks TBS, although it's a shame it's taken (imo) a considerable time to get them published with little info on even a rough ETA.
that said, i hope the delay has been down to a well polished release; I'd rather one stable release than a load of releases that are buggy.
