tbs6984 firmware getting corrupted or burned tunner

Postby zcodefixer » Fri Sep 07, 2012 5:02 am

Hi,
i am trying to hook 5 X TBS6984 adapters on 1 computer.

i run 12 adapters fine, as long as i run 16 adapters my program become not responsive, i kill the program and restart computer 2 tuners are dead,

i replace this cards and do the same process same thing another 2 tuners dies.

and thats what i get.

TurboSight TBS 6984 Frontend:
tbs6984fe - command is not responding

is there any way where we can reflash those adapters without doing an RMA?

can anyone explain why by using 16 dvb cards 2 tuners are dying?

i am not using any external power, i am using just the power from the pci-x, and all 16 tuners runs from 1 powered switched.

Thanks

Hi,
yes i tried the 4 tunner ( TBS6984 ) card and 2 of the tunners are dead, the first 2 always dies,

its like firmware corrupted on them, it shows me SNR100% and Signal 0%, even if no cable is hooked up.

i tried 4 pci-e cardson 1 computer , i open 12 Muxes ( Tunners ) works Fine, as long as i open the 16 Bam my program freez and 2 tunners Break.

i am afraid to do it anymore :( i do not want to break more tunners,

But what will be Causing the Firmware on the Device to Break ( or to kill the tunners )

I had this Issue Before With Genpix Sky-walker 1 turbo 8psk cards. when i Contacted the Manufacture they ask me to send them, and they came back to me that all was fine only they had to reload the firmware on them, and they ask me what am i doing to break the firmware :)

i am not doing anything beside going extreme adding more then 14 adapters.

and now i remember i had also TBS5922, and i had couple of USB DVB with same tuner problem, and they broke the same way. TBS recommend me to send them but did not.

and all these happened and different type of motherboards , pci-e and USB devices were breaking.

hi, please, could you clarify what you mean by 'dead' - after you installed those tuners together with all 16 adapters they no longer work even when you install them alone in the system without many adapters present or they do not work only when they are installed together with all 16 adapters and when installed alone are still working? please, note that the software can't 'kill' the hardware neither any 'reflash' of the hardware is necessary. thanks.

Hi,
yes when i say dead, that mean card is not responsive.

what happen is that 2 tuner out of 4 dies, wont lock to any signal anymore.

i installed in new system, same problem.

i have no idea how such thing can happen, and why always 2 tuner out 4 goes defect?

and i know a friend of mine this happened to him, also 2 tuner out 4 suddenly stop locking.

any idea what causes that?
i see you have now tbs6985 ? does this have more hardware improvements?

Thanks
