No data from driver 1.0.1.6 in Windows 7 x64

No data from driver 1.0.1.6 in Windows 7 x64

Hello! :-)

Last week I received the TBS 8922. I could not get it working on my system (mainboard: Asus M4N78) in Windows 7 x64 with the only currently available driver version (1.0.1.6): The signal strength and quality seem to be displayed correctly in DVBViewer 5.5.2, but no transport stream data seems to be received from the driver (DVBSource filter: no data, connected). The problem was similar with CrazyScan: The RFScan works alright, transponder parameters are found correctly, but no data could be saved using the streaming function.

To identify the problem, I tried to get it working on the same hardware configuration but Windows XP x86 instead (with x86 version of driver 1.0.1.6). Result: It worked perfectly both in DVBViewer 5.5.2 and CrazyScan!

Re-installation of Windows 7 x64 from scratch didn't help, so the malfunction in Windows 7 x64 can't have been due to a corrupted Windows installation.

Conclusion: There seems to be an issue with the x64 driver (at least version 1.0.1.6) of the TBS 8922 and Windows 7 x64. I could read here on the forums that I'm not the first one with this issue (however, in some cases other cards like TBS 8920 and 8921 were affected) and that a modified driver could help.

Help with another driver to test would be greatly appreciated, as with the current driver, the TV card is of no use for me, so that I would return it to TBS.

Thanks a lot in advance!

In your Windows 7 x64 system device manage do you see the TS capture device?
if not please reinstall the driver again.

Thanks

Hi steven!

Thanks for trying to help... The TS capture device is present in the device manager.

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance

Just a short update: I also tried to get it to work in Windows 10 x64 - no success. I attached a screenshot which shows that all necessary devices are present in the device manager (lower corner on the left); CrazyScan does the RFScan and reads the transponder parameters as it should, but it received no transport stream data (see the "0" two boxes below "Stream to file", indicating that no data is being written to the file).

As I wrote further up, the card works well with the same hardware configuration in Windows XP x86.

Conclusion: It's a problem with the x64 driver (maybe interaction between that driver and my mainboard Asus M4N78?).

Please help me with this, I surely don't want to run an x86 operating system!

Thanks in advance

Stefan

Hi steven!

Thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately there was no difference after installing the new driver (I checked the version of both devices in the device manager - both of them were 1.0.1.7, I also did a reboot - no change).

This weekend I had the chance to test the card in another computer (mainboard: ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE) and there it worked under Windows 7 x64 with the 1.0.1.6 driver!

So there must be something special about my mainboard (Asus M4N78) that the Windows x64 drivers don't work with it. As the x86 drivers DO work: Isn't it possible to handle the device in the x64 driver as similar as possible to the x86 driver?

Would it be of any help if I allowed you / the driver developers to access my computer e.g. via TeamViewer? I expected the device to work within an hour after the first unpacking, but now I've spent already more than 14 hours on this issue altogether, and I would like not to spend more than another up to 4 hours on this, as I am also busy with a lot of other stuff, I hope you understand.

Thanks a lot in advance

Will I get help with this issue? If not, then please let me know, so that I return/replace the item. Thanks in advance.

Okay, no help here, so I will remove the card from my computer and send it back to TBS - hoping it will get replaced by a USB version.

Hello,

I'm having a similar problem with the TBS8922. However, in my case the card is not locking onto the signal. My system is HPZ230 with windows 7 x64. I have tried re-installing the driver multiple times and it does not lock onto the signal. We have purchased more than a hundred cards and most of them are not working. Where it works, we don't know why it does, and we are unable to replicate this on other machines. The machines are exactly the same and the hard drives are cloned. We have been working on this for several days. Before we had been using TBS8921 and never had any problem. Can you please provide a new driver that might solve this problem.

Thank you

Hello Stefan!

I know you posted your problem in 2015, however here are just my two cents. ;)

I'm also using the 8922 with Windows 7 (64-bit) and it's working like a charm with DVBviewer. I have a mainboard from AsRock and never had problems using the 8922. In my case the driver 1.0.1.6 did work from scratch. My problem is, that I can't get it to work with Windows 10...

I suppose you already bought another card, but like I said: just my two cents.
