when using 'make' I get:

File not found: /lib/modules/4.1.15-desktop-2.mga5/build/.config at ./scripts/make_kconfig.pl line 33, <IN> line 4.

¬/build/.config does not exist.

Can anyone help?

Install your kernel build files for your distribution. In Ubuntu it's

sudo apt-get build-dep linux-image-`uname -r`

I feel very foolish. I had the 'devel' file for an earlier kernel.
