well w_scan just scan's (I cant get it todo anything on any of my tuners) but thats what its designed for. Not recording.

Are you looking a a simple recording app or a full multimedia centre app ?

My tune-s2 / demux app will tune a tp and record a show. Its a console app so its super simple and easy to use in a script. But its no multimedia app, its pretty basic.

Is w_scan supposed to scan? Seems logical.
But w_scan -v -v -v -v -v -fs -S105W0 just sits there doing nothing.
It complains about defaulting to UTF-8 but there are no other messages.

Is the board defective? Both TBSViewer and DVBDream crash and burn under 64 bit Win7
on a system that is quite stable when not using the TBS card.

I would like to have an app under Linux comparable to DVBDream.
At the moment I'd be happy if I can just record NASA Select HD without
the TBS card crashing the machine.

The previous card worked fine for NASA Select before it died
but the 6928 has never worked reliably.

I got the tbs Linux driver(s) installed, but the 6928 driver is brain damaged:

dmesg | grep front
[ 9.978231] SAA716x TBS 0000:06:00.0: DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 1953724787 (TurboSight TBS 6928 DVBS/S2 frontend)...
[ 952.995835] SAA716x TBS 0000:06:00.0: dvb_frontend_ioctl_legacy: doesn't know how to handle a DVBv3 call to delivery system 176

szap -x -l C-BAND NASA
reading channels from file '/root/.szap/channels.conf'
zapping to 1 'NASA':
sat 0, frequency = 3760 MHz V, symbolrate 28068000, vpid = 0x0111, apid = 0x0115 sid = 0x0065
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
frontend device is not a QPSK (DVB-S) device!

Thats cause its using v3 dvb api, which is stupid old.

Its a nightmare to support both v3 and v5. everyone supports v5 pretty much no one supports v3

Tried with szap-s2:

[root@stereo tbs]# szap-s2 NASA
reading channels from file '/root/.szap/channels.conf'
zapping to 1 'NASA':
delivery DVB-S, modulation QPSK
sat 0, frequency 3760 MHz V, symbolrate 28068000, coderate auto, rolloff 0.35
vpid 0x0111, apid 0x0115, sid 0x0065
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
Killed
[root@stereo tbs]#
