TBS 6221 DVB-C (cable) card under Linux (Debian 8 x64)

Hi,
I’m having problems using the TBS 6221 DVB-C (cable) card under Linux (Debian 8 x64) ) in a ESXi 5.5 virtual machine. From here on ‘all’ the systems I refer to are running in virtual environments.

The card seems to work fine under Windows 7 Pro, but under Debian it does not seem to be able to tune to anything.

The card is in a TVHeadend 4.1-1347 server alongside a TBS 6985 (Quad Satellite) card. The latest driver at the time of writing (tbs-linux-drivers_v160126) seems to have compiled and installed with no problems.

root@vmtvh:~# dmesg | grep frontend
[ 19.377523] DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6985 DVBS/S2 frontend)...
[ 19.938991] DVB: registering adapter 1 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6985 DVBS/S2 frontend)...
[ 20.591020] DVB: registering adapter 2 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6985 DVBS/S2 frontend)...

[37453.203208] DVB: adapter 4 frontend 0 symbol rate 0 out of range (1000000..7200000)
[37891.759070] DVB: adapter 4 frontend 0 symbol rate 0 out of range (1000000..7200000)

The satellite side of things is working fine :D , but when trying to scan cable via the 6221 I get the following from TVHeadend

******** Output from TVHeadend ***********************************************************

So I ran the ‘scan utility to try and see what was happening:-

******** scan *****************************************************************************

scan -a 4 -f 0 /usr/share/dvb/dvb-c/

root@vmtvh:~# scan -a 4 -f 0 /usr/share/dvb/dvb-c/
scanning /usr/share/dvb/dvb-s/
using '/dev/dvb/adapter4/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter4/demux0'

Done.

Then I tried ‘w_scan’, which threw out the following:-

******** w_scan ***************************************************************************

w_scan -a 4 -fc -c GB -S 4 -x >> /tmp/w_scan.log

root@vmtvh:~# w_scan -a 4 -fc -c GB -S 4 -x >> /tmp/w_scan.log

I would like to get this sorted so I can upgrade and move onto a TBS 6205 ☺

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks :D
