Legacy signal statistic for si2157/si2168 drivers
STR(%) = 100 + RFLevel(dBm). So 70% is -30dBm
SNR(%) = 2 * SNR(dB). So 70% = 35dB

Also this drivers support extended signal statistic in dBm, dB. You can see it in tvheadend 4.1+ or use dvb-fe-tool -m

P.S. In 6205 signal splitted btw four tuner ICs, so you have some lower signal (but anyway in acceptable range -65 .. -25dB). In 6209 signal splitted btw 8 tuners and this really not good :)

@crazycat,
in my old stuff I found a broadband amplifier (+10dB) and with this amplifier I get a higher STR level, the SNR level will be approx. the same:
Without amplifier -> STR = 55% __ SNR = 70%
With amplifier -----> STR = 65% __ SNR = 73%

But the receiving errors and issues (only with the QAM256 transponders) are the same! :(
With and without the broadband amplifier I get the same issues with QAM256 transponder:
    * When I switch between the 4 tuners sometimes I get a black sreen (in this case the STR/SNR get a lower level), sometimes I loos the tuner lock.
    * Or I receive a channel with a good picture and after a while I get picture errors and/or a freeze image!

All these issues are only with QAM256 and only with the TBS6205.
The check with my both MyGica T230 (connected over a 2 way splitter) get no errors, no issues. The receiving of all channels/transponders are good!

For my understanding there are 2 options:
1. My TBS6205 is damage (rather unlikely because QAM64 and also DVB-T2 works without any issues).
2. The TBS driver has a bug or a failure in the DVB-C QAM256 section!

i think this cross-interference btw tuners or demods

Si2157/2168 drivers used same for 6205. T230 and many more devices.

My only question now is:
Is there a chance to fix my issue/error with a new driver version? Do you work on that?
Or think you that my TBS6205 card is broken?

What's your opinion?
Do you see a chance to help me?

Card not broken and driver can't fix it. Maybe some si2168 firmware update can help (driver load si2157/2168 firmware patches from files)

@crazycat,
you are right and I found the reason for all my trouble with the TBS6205 with DVB-C and QAM256! :shock:

My TBS6205 isn't broken and the tbs-driver works good.
Since 2 days I haven't any errors or issues with my TBS6205 under DVB-C (QAM256) and all things work perfect! :D :D :D

What have I done, respectively what was the reason for all my trouble:
You know, in the past I used only DVB-T/T2 with my TBS6205 without any issues. At this time I detected that the ICs for tuner (Si2157) and also the demodulator IC (Si2168) becomes in operation very, very hot (over 80°C).

In my old stuff I found a small heatsink (50x25x10mm) for cooling ICs and I attached this temporary with a small cable strap over all the 4 tuners and also over the 4 demodulators. This works good and I hoped that this will help to decrease the high temperature. After that my TBS6205 worked without any issues or errors over some months with DVB-T/T2!

For a few weeks I switched from DVB-T2 to DVB-C, because I could only get 17 channels over DVB-T2 at my flat. And with DVB-C I get some issues and problems with my TBS6205 and only with channels/transponders with QAM256 (see all my last posts from the last week).

One of your last answers to my many questions about your opinion to my issues:

crazycat Wrote:i think this cross-interference btw tuners or demods ...

get me the idea to remove the temporary mounted heatsink, because the heatsink can influence or transmit RF signals, like an antenna.
And so I removed the temporary mounted heatsink and at this moment I haven't any issues or errors with my TBS6205 with DVB-C and QAM6205.

Now I can get all DVB-C channels with and without QAM256 without any issues or errors!
I can switch between all the 4 tuners, I can use this over a long time without any errors. All things, the TBS6205 card and also the TBS driver works perfect! :D

The reason for my issues was solely the temporary mounted heatsink over the 4 tuner and 4 demodulator ICs!
And it's very, very crazy that this heatsink has only an influence by receiving a DVB-C channel with QAM256. All other signals like DVB-C with QAM64 or DVB-T/T2 works perfect with and without the mounted heatsink! :roll:

Now I'm happy that my TBS card works perfect and I can use this card without any problems. :)
@crazycat, Thanks for your help and time.

DiliaK Wrote:Hello everybody,

I try to use the quad tuner 6205 card with these drivers on UBUNTU 14.04.5 LTS with success. ( that's a good point :) )

BUT :
I can't use my webcam logitech C525 anymore... It seems that the package of modules break it completly.

Is there any solutions ?

Thank you !

Am i alone with this problem ?

Well,
So i putted out this card, putted back my old tv nova td-500 card. Lots of problems, webcam out, sometimes my old card was not working etc, etc, etc,...

I found a previous kernel modules installation and all is running well now.
And i don't speak about extremly high temp of chips...
Will never put this card on a linux system without to be sure of existant modules integrity will not be touched.

Hi

Please have a try with this package :
#wget http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document ... 19.tar.bz2
# sudo rm -rf /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/media/
#tar jxvf media_build-latest.tar.bz2
#cd media_build
#./install.sh
#reboot

Thanks

Kind Regards

Does this driver supports TBS5990 MCE Remote ? If yes how ? I compiled it but mce remote doesn't work.

Best Ragards.
