I was trying to install the driver of a TBS6982 on a fresh Ubuntu 20.04 (kernel 5.8.0-48-generic) running on a PC having a i7-4790K CPU with Intel Integrated Graphics Controller (i915).
I used the TBS Open Source Linux Driver Offline Package v20210204 and in the end I had success:
- Code: Select All Code
helio@hercules:~$ dmesg | grep frontend
[ 2.985229] SAA716x Budget 0000:03:00.0: DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6982SE DVB-S/S2)...
[ 3.291713] SAA716x Budget 0000:03:00.0: DVB: registering adapter 1 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 6982SE DVB-S/S2)...
I confirmed that the driver was working, since it is recognised on a TVHeadend server I installed next.
The problem is that prior to the driver installation I had a fully functioning graphics driver as can be seen on the following commands:
- Code: Select All Code
helio@hercules:~$ inxi -G --display
Graphics:

helio@hercules:~$ sudo lshw -C video

But after the driver installation I lost the i915 driver:

helio@hercules:~$ sudo lshw -C video
[sudo] password for helio:

(nothing)
Without this i915 driver, Ubuntu uses a generic one that has no full HD support.
I tried to reinstall the missing i915 but never had any success.
Can anyone give me a tip on what to do?
Regards
