Postby steven » Thu Nov 08, 2012 3:00 pm

Hi all

Great news: TBS6680 works with Windows Media Center now. :)
Just follow with this:
First:
Install a special driver which Windows Media Center will take TBS6680 as a DVB-T device:
http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document/tbs6680/tbs6680-virtualdvbt-driver_v20121114.zip
After install the virtual driver, please have a restart of your PC.

Second:
Use special TBSCITOOL to set the symbol rate for Windows Media Center.
http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document/tbs6680/tbs6680-virtualdvbt_mcecitool_v1.0.0.7.zip
like this:
Set_symbol_rate.jpg
Set_symbol_rate

Third:
After set the symbol rate then you can open Windows Media Center and enjoy DVBC now. :D

Another choose is to have a try with virtual DVB-S driver:
http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document/tbs6680/tbs6680_virtualdvbs_release_v1.0.0.0.zip

In this package has a HowTo.txt you can have a read, here is the detail information:
How To use Virtual DVB-S driver for DVB C cards ??

After you installed this Virtual DVB-S driver,Windows Media Center will take TBS6680 as a DVB-S device.
So you need to manual scan these transponder.
if your DVB-C provider parameters.
SymbolRate 6875 ks/s
Transponders:
1. 266 Mhz QAM256
2. 274 Mhz QAM256
3. 282 Mhz QAM256
4. 290 Mhz QAM256
5. 298 Mhz QAM256
6. 306 Mhz QAM64
....... (step 8Mhz)
25. 458 Mhz QAM64
Then:
set the freq value which is added 3000MHz.

For example, if the wanted frequency is 474MHz,
the value should be 3474MHz(Which looks like the satellite frequency).
You can set the symblo Rate to 6875.

Press scan then MCE will get the 474 ,6875 transponder channel list.

Any problem about this. Please reply here, we will answer your question as soon as possible.

Hello,
I have a problem when trying to detect and use the dual tuner in Windows Media Center (Windows 7 version, x 64).
I've tried to perform the automatic channel detection with WMC after following the description you posted above.
1st problem: when the automatic detection is achieved and TV channels are detected and registered in WMC, WMC states that I don't have TV signal.
2nd problem: some TV channels are missing.
Could you help me out please?
Thanks

Hi Berzerkr

Maybe you can have a try with virtual DVB-S driver:

Hello,

I am also a TBS6680 user.
Actually, it works pretty well with MCE !

As explained, simply follow this steps :

1. Install the Virtual DVB-S Driver
2. Restart your machine
3. Install MCE CI Tool (Version 1.0.0.9 is fine with me) and do not close it ! just minimize.
4. Start MCE and setup the signal as if it was a satellite (just select any of it), no need to scan anything of course.
4.1. You'd better start from scratch, if you have already played a little with MCE : Tasks -> Settings -> General -> Windows Media Center Setup -> Run Setup again
5. Tasks -> Settings -> TV -> TV Signal -> Satellite Transponder Scan -> Single Transponder Scan
Then here :
5.1 You must know your cable provider settings and the frequencies / symbols / QAM settings. I personnaly uses my smart TV (decoding DVB-C on its own), where I had all those information specified for each providers
5.1.1 : if you don't know them, ask your cable company / browse their web site.
5.2 : Carrier frequency : if your frequency is, let's say 506000 KHz, then type 3506 MHz
5.3 : Symbole Rate : for me it is 6875 KS/s
5.4 Polarization = Modulation, follow this guide :
256 QAM = Horizontal
128 QAM = Left
64 QAM = Vertical
32 QAM - Right
As soon as you have entered these informations, the 'Signal Quality' bar should turn full green, then just go next to record the channels.

6. Manage channels in the Guide to sort and remove unwanted channels.

I am running WMC on Windows 8.1 x64, Virtual DVB-S Driver (it also works with the virtual DVB-T, but didn't found my QAM 256 channels, only the 64 ... and I didn't spent time on that as you have more control with the DVB-S approach)

Pal, the problem is not with TBS hardware, but only MCE that supports ClearQAM only (which is US only basically). So ask for help, dig a little, but don't be rude ;) There is always a solution ! ;)

Hope it helps
Pierrick
