NTFS File Sharing

Postby putz182 » Fri Oct 25, 2013 3:40 am

I was wondering if it possible to plug my external storage device to MOI and share my movies building a NFS, Samba, DLNA or what is possible under MOI. Did anyone do that?
Also, I was thinking if was possible to connect MOI to my network connecting an USB Wifi Card.

I hear something about crosscompiling, I really need a direction where to look. I will buy a MOI, but I want to know if it can share my files as well!

DLNA - I tried minidlna, nothing interesting. Tuners with minidlna don't working properly. tvheadend + moi is much better way.
NFS - don't using, sorry.

SAMBA - Full samba for MOI have a 75MB.
I don't think, this is a good way for that little device/chipset. Speed is limited to 3000-4000 kB/s.
I need to try limited binaries for correct use and If You want, I can upload samba server for MOI (only for tests and at Your risk).
CPU Load is about 5-10% on SD records, not OK for correctly using.

Better way is use http streaming with lighttpd server.

I see... I first need to thank you for the answer. Second, I see that MOI is unfortunately more restricted than I thought.

I don't see lighttpd as a solution, since I use .srt subtitles. For a long time I had used samba server, but I need to turn on the big computer.
If you can point some directions, I can try to work something with samba, trying to optimize and compiling.

I don't think so. That types of little devices, based on ARM + 100M Lan have some results.
New generations of MOI will be better for samba, I hope (1G Lan, 4 cores).

As first, You need compile kernel + buildroot. There's more threads, how to start developing of MOI.
If You need only test functionality of samba, let me know. Plus recommendation of good public upload server (75MB, but You don't need all binary tools for samba as sure).

About lighttp + srt - You need use mkv container for video files or only remux your files to mkv + include srt subtitles.
