What software to use? Good question, do some digging here and find the best one for you.

VDR unstable incl. plugins for MOI DVB-S2 Straming Box

Postby nwagenaar » Sun Aug 31, 2014 8:38 pm

I had some additional time at my disposal, so I decided to compile the latest VDR 2.1.6 for the MOI DVB-S2 Streaming Box.

These builds are provided as is, are are not optimized in any way and using them is at your own risk. I can't be held responsible for any issues that may arise like bricked or unstable devices. They seemed to work fine on my MOI DVB-S2 with firmware 2.0.3, but this doesn't mean it'll work for you.

As always: before putting these files on your MOI, please make a backup of the binaries (residing in /usr/local/bin), plugins (residing in /usr/local/lib/vdr) and config-files (residing in /etc/vdr) before overwriting them. Also a removal of the old 2.1.1 plugins (libvdr*.so.2.1.1) is advised.

The file includes the following binaries:

- OSCAM 1.2 Revision 9842 (latest git, compiled with libdvbcsa support with support for USB-readers)
- Changed runvdr.sh script for /usr/bin because of the changes in vdr-plugin-dvbapi
- VDR 2.1.6
- vdr-plugin-wirbelscan 0.0.7
- vdr-plugin-xvdr 0.0.9 (latest git)
- vdr-plugin-vniserver 1.1.0 (latest git)
- vdr-plugin-streamdev-server 0.6.1-channelchange2
- ver-plugin-svdrposd 1.0.0
- vdr-plugin-dvbapi 2.1.1 (latest git, compiled with libdvbcsa support)

Thanks for the work!
It looks like that the stream starts faster, and more stable.

VDR 2.1.7 was released a couple of days ago, so I decided to build it for the MOI. I haven't been able to test/run it considering I don't have access to my own device.

As always: before putting these files on your MOI, please make a backup of the binaries (residing in /usr/local/bin), plugins (residing in /usr/local/lib/vdr) and config-files (residing in /etc/vdr) before overwriting them. Also a removal of the old 2.1.1 and 2.1.6 plugins (libvdr*.so.2.1.1/libvdr*.so.2.1.6) is advised.

- VDR 2.1.7
- vdr-plugin-wirbelscan 0.0.7
- vdr-plugin-xvdr (latest git)
- vdr-plugin-vniserver (latest git)
- vdr-plugin-streamdev-server 0.6.1-channelchange2
- ver-plugin-svdrposd 1.0.0
- vdr-plugin-dvbapi (latest git, compiled with libdvbcsa support)

VDR 2.1.9 was relased today, so again it's time for a new build for the MOI DVB-S2 streaming box. Warning, I haven't been able to test/run it considering my unit is out of order.

As always: before putting these files on your MOI, please make a backup of the binaries (residing in /usr/local/bin), plugins (residing in /usr/local/lib/vdr) and config-files (residing in /etc/vdr) before overwriting them. Also a removal of the old 2.1.1, 2.1.6 and 2.1.7 plugins (libvdr*.so.2.1.1/libvdr*.so.2.1.6/libvdr*.so.2.1.7) is advised.

- VDR 2.1.9
- vdr-plugin-wirbelscan 0.0.7
- vdr-plugin-xvdr (latest git)
- vdr-plugin-vniserver (latest git)
- vdr-plugin-streamdev-server 0.6.1-channelchange2
- ver-plugin-svdrposd 1.0.0
- vdr-plugin-dvbapi (latest git, compiled with libdvbcsa support)

Grab the file from here: http://shalafi.home.xs4all.nl/moi/20150 ... bs2.tar.gz

Also, I build a new OSCAM binary for those who want the latest bleeding edge version:

- OSCAM 1.2 Revision 10451 (latest git, compiled with libdvbcsa support with support for USB-readers)

A stable version of VDR 2.2.0 was a while ago, so again it's time for a new build for the MOI DVB-S2 streaming box.

Also a removal of the old 2.1.* plugins (libvdr*.so.2.1.1/libvdr*.so.2.1.6/libvdr*.so.2.1.7/libvdr*.so.2.1.9) is advised.

- VDR 2.2.0
- vdr-plugin-wirbelscan 0.0.7
- vdr-plugin-xvdr (latest git)
- vdr-plugin-vniserver (latest git)
- vdr-plugin-streamdev-server 0.6.1-channelchange2
- ver-plugin-svdrposd 1.0.0
- vdr-plugin-dvbapi (latest git, compiled with libdvbcsa support)

Grab the file from here: http://shalafi.home.xs4all.nl/moi/20151 ... bs2.tar.gz

Also, I build a new OSCAM binary for those who want the latest bleeding edge version:

- OSCAM 1.2 Revision 10888 (latest git, compiled with libdvbcsa support with support for USB-readers)

Grab it from here: http://shalafi.home.xs4all.nl/moi/20151 ... bs2.tar.gz

I created a new upgrade package for VDR 2.2.0 which consists of 2 additional plugins:

- vdr-plugin-control 0.0.2a_kw3 - See http://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/Control-plugin for more information
- vdr-plugin-eepg (latest git) - See http://projects.vdr-developer.org/proje ... -eepg/wiki for more information

The Control plugin allows you to control your VDR configuration using telnet (default is localhost port 2002). Just make sure you copy the remote.conf from the package over to /etc/vdr and overwrite the old one.
The EEPG plugin is a plugin which reads the EPG from non EIT based providers like Freesat, Canal Digitaal, etc.

Hi, Is there any chance someone can explain how we would install these files? VDR seems to be a lot faster and more stable than TVHeadend so I might try using this instead although it seems to be missing a lot of channels on FreeSAT UK.

Just extract the files on your PC using 7-zip and use WinSCP to transfer them in the folders.

In the extracted folder is the structure of the location where you need to put the files. Just overwrite them when asked :)

Hi nwagenaar

I'm clutching at straws here but was hoping you might be able to help. I'd like to be able to upgrade VDR and add a few plugins like the eepg but I am running a TBS Moi Pro rather than a DVB-S2. When looking to install the compiled software above I see that the locations on the Moi Pro are different to the DVB-S2. This leads me to worry about dependencies not being met.

Is there a guide somewhere to show how to compile software and plugins for the TBS devices so that I can try and compile a new version of VDR for the Moi Pro?

I've asked over in the Moi Pro forum for help on this, but I've not gotten any replies. Any help you could give would be great

Thanks
dmac
