Sound loss in certain circumstances

Postby brutus2675 » Tue Jan 28, 2014 1:47 am

I am using a home-built HTPC. The sound is delivered to a 5.1 analog speaker system from the Intel motherboard's on-board chip. The vision is carried to a Samsung Smart-TV via an HDMI lead.

I have two TV processing programs installed: MythTV 25.0 and Kaffeine 1.2.2. The TBSDTV linux driver is v130927

If I select an HD channel with kaffeine, the sound produced is terrible roar/hiss'rumble. Nothing will shift it.
On MythTV, the SD channels seem to be OK but HD channels can break into high intensity white noise without warning.
This invariably happens if I pause and restart or skip. Sometimes switching to the program guide and back will restore it.

Suggested solutions on the MythTV forum all failed to make any difference. Needless to say recordings behave exactly the same.

Suggestions will be welcome..

Hi brutus2675.

Try recording a few minutes of this channels and use ffmpeg to see audio codec used. Maybe this can help you to find a solution.
Hope it's util for you.

Regards.
