TBS5922-BlindscanTool

Postby MrAB » Tue Nov 08, 2011 6:14 pm

Hi,
I recently got this product (TBS 5922) and having some queries.
Am using a 8port Diseqc and the BS tool allows only 4 diseq ports, any quickfix for it, or is it possible to use any other external or third party software for blindscan on TBS5922. pls confirm or advice.
Also another issue is the scan results. I used to get the option/pop up window once the scan is complete, showing the full details of channels/list with lost/new channels, and also it allows me to extract the report to word/copy to clipboard... But somehow i am missing that now, and how to enable it?
Thanks for your response.

TBS 5922 supported in third-party blindscan program BLScan, I have tested it with my sample. Easy Blind Scan must support TBS 5922 too, because it uses the same BLScan.exe file.
BLScan and EBS supports Diseqc 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2, also USALS, and store TPs data in .ini and .txt files. You can output .ini file to your favorite viewer folder and then scan transponders list for channels. EBS also allow you to start VLC with command-line parameters and view found channels in VLC.
Speed of blindscan in BLScan and EBS about 2 times slow compare to TBS Blindscan Tool, but results are accurate (the same results in TBS Blindscan Tool).

Here is links to BLScan in first post of the thread:
http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/po ... ad-5183609
Here is discussion on EBS:
http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/po ... re-5347383
EBS program's webpage:
http://cjcr-soft.com/software/easy-blindscan/

TBS Blindscan Tool doesn't store modulation mode and FEC in .ini file (but show them in results log on the screen). Maybe TBS programmers will add this feature to the next versions of Blindscan Tool?
Look like we have stored info now:
Code: Select All Code
1=11553,V,3699
2=11725,V,27500
3=11764,V,27500
4=11841,V,27500

Here is how it should be (in AltDVB format):
Code: Select All Code
1=11553,V,3699,78,1
2=11725,V,27500,34,2
3=11764,V,27500,34,2
4=11841,V,27500,34,2

Hi Tempo

Maybe the next version we will add this,but i think there is no need add for our card,
because our new card do not need input the modulation mode and FEC,our driver and chip
can auto detect the modulation mode and FEC.

Thanks

I understand, but this log files can be used for tuning other DVB cards in different viewing software, which require correct signal parameters for tuning. That is why I asked to add additional parameters to log file. Maybe optional feature, and maybe in different viewers format? You can see, how CrazyCat realized different log file format in BLScan program:
Code: Select All Code
; Transponder ini format.
; 0 - Technotrend, default
; 1 - AltDVB
; 2 - DVBDream
; 3 - DVBViewer
; 4 - SichboPVR
IniFormat=1

It's from BLScan.ini config file.

I hadn't problems with TBS 5922 card, when I tested it in blindscan software. But I have one suggestion/ask. When CrazyCat's BLScan program works with TBS 5922 (as well as with TBS 8922 and 6922), it gives wrong constant SNR value 10.0db and wrong RFLevel = -40 dBm, see following example:
Code: Select All Code
[SATTYPE]
1=0070
2=Eutelsat W3A

[DVB]
0=35
1=10719,H,22000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
2=10719,V,27500,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
3=10768,H,15730,23,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
4=10802,V,29900,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
5=10843,V,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
6=10844,H,30000,56,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
7=10885,H,30000,56,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
8=10885,V,30000,56,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
9=10927,H,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
10=10927,V,30000,56,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
11=10960,V,9875,34,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
12=10972,V,9875,34,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
13=11040,H,4800,23,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
14=11053,H,4938,34,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
15=11059,H,4937,34,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
16=11189,V,6666,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
17=11219,H,27500,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
18=11240,V,30000,12,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
19=11451,V,25070,23,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
20=11470,H,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
21=11491,V,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
22=11511,H,27500,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
23=11532,V,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
24=11553,H,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
25=11573,V,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
26=11595,H,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
27=11616,V,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
28=11636,H,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
29=11669,V,30000,23,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
30=11677,H,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
31=12517,H,5714,78,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
32=12518,V,8330,12,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
33=12669,H,3300,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
34=12694,H,5426,12,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB
35=12706,V,30000,23,2 ;-40 dBm, 10.0 dB

On the other hand when BLScan works with other cards, include TBS5925 (I have it now for software testing, thanks to TBS), it gives real SNR values from demodulator's registers, see second example:
Code: Select All Code
[SATTYPE]
1=0070
2=Eutelsat W3A

[DVB]
0=38
1=10719,H,22000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.8 dB
2=10719,V,27500,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.2 dB
3=10745,H,2599,12,2 ;-41 dBm, 12.5 dB
4=10768,H,15730,23,1 ;-40 dBm, 10.9 dB
5=10802,V,29900,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 8.7 dB
6=10844,H,30000,56,2 ;-40 dBm, 9.7 dB
7=10844,V,30000,34,1 ;-40 dBm, 9.3 dB

12=10977,V,7199,34,2 ;-41 dBm, 8.2 dB
13=10987,H,4433,78,1 ;-41 dBm, -10.0 dB
14=11041,H,4799,23,1 ;-41 dBm, 5.7 dB

38=12722,H,3438,34,3 ;-43 dBm, 6.4 dB

Steven, can you expand API functions with returned SNR and RFLevel values for better blindscan results in BLScan program? I know that CrazyCat uses "-40 dBm, 10.0 dB" values because current API functions doesn't support return of those additional signal parameters. Maybe expand of functions with new arguments could be done not in the next, but in one of future drivers?
Also I'm interested in viewing the spectrum picture on TBS x922 cards, but CrazyScan program doesn't support this feature on x922 cards because of the same reason, functions return only basic parameters. This is the way, how CrazyScan program (open-source now) receives the data for spectrum plot:
1) Tune the tuner for desired frequency (I think this can be done with current functions), with minimal signal capture bandwidth (if Tuner IC have filter with variable frequency bandwith, it should be turned to minimal bandwidth, this is VERY important for clear/accurate spectrum picture);
2) Read AGC Gain value (or calculated RFLevel value from AGC Gain) from register of chip (there must be some new additional function), calculate RFLevel value (if necessary) and draw the picture with Frequency and RFLevel axis.
It would be nice to have support of TBS x922 cards too for satellite spectrum estimation in CrazyScan program. Steven, If you can expand existing functions or add new functions for that purposes, I will be very thankful to you. I have now TBS 6921/6922/5922/5925 cards, so can test new features of drivers on 6922 and 5922 cards.

Thanks.

Thank you Steven for your help :).
New version of CrazyScan and Streamreader now full supports TBS cards with TMAX chipset. All features supported: spectrum, constellation and blindscan. We have tested TBS 5922 / 6922 / 8922 / 6928 cards, also TT S2-4100. All those cards have confirmed support in CrazyCat's programs.
