Can't install driver in Win 7

Postby pt95cca » Wed Mar 09, 2011 7:41 pm

Hi,

I have a Windows 7 Media Center PC in which I have installed two TBS cards, one 6980 dual tuner PCI-E card, and one 8920. After first installation both cards were installed correctly with the latest drivers, but after my first reboot after that, the 8920 card was lost, and now I can't get it back again.

It shows up as an uninstalled "Video controller" in the Device Manager, but when I try to "Update driver" it starts searching on Windows update and installs a completely bogus driver. If I try to point it manually to the TBS driver folder, it just says that there is no suitable driver found in that directory.

I have tried uninstalling the device, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, rebooting, removing and reinserting the card into the PC, well just about everything. But I still can't get it to recognize the card again. I know it should be possible as I succeeded once before the initial reboot.

Any hints?

Just browsed the homepage and realized that this card might not be supported under Windows 7? That could of course be one reason - but strange in that case that I could install it once.

Never mind. This is really annoying. You spend hours of time trying to install it, then post a question here, and then find the solution a few minutes afterwards.

If anyone else runs into the same problem, here's what I did:

- Installed the driver
- Right-clicked the device in device manager, selected "Update driver"
- Choose the second option "driver already installed on this computer"
- Once again second option "let me choose from a list"
- Find TBS in the list and select the DVBS driver
- Repeat the above for the next unrecognized driver as well (TS Capture something)
