Advice using 2 x TBS8920 with WMC

Postby doobopuk » Tue Nov 02, 2010 6:17 pm

I'm about to build my first media centre and am wanting to use 2 x 8920 cards to replace my Sky system in the UK. I know there is a 6980/1 card but this costs over 50% more here than 2 8920 cards. So just need to know that they will work together within WMC to allow me the usual stuff of recording one channel whilst watching another and there are no known issues with doing this. Thanks to anyone who can put my mind at rest before I make the plunge.

Chris, currently one TBS 8920 costs USD 76.99:

which means two cost USD 153.98, which is more than one TBS 6981 card, which price is USD 148.99:

also, you should know that TBS 8920 is using first generation DVB-S2 chips, while TBS 6980/1 is using second generation DVB-S2 chips and thus TBS 6980/1 has other advantages than just being dual tuner card.
