Problem with signal strength

Hi,

I instelled TBS5680 under the latest Ubuntu:

uname:
Linux Lenovo-G550 3.5.0-17-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 9 19:32:08 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

drivers compiled successfully (tbs-linux-drivers_v121105.zip), when connecting device there is nothing worrying in dmesg:

Performed full scan under Kaffeine and found all available channels. Unfortunatelly, Kaffeine shows the signal strength is at about 20-25% and snr is ~5%.
When watching tv programmes, every single frame is corrupted - you cannot see enything except squares.

I'm sure that my cable provider signal strength is ok, because what am I doing is unplugging cable from tv and plugging it to TBS5680 - my TV (Sony bravia) shows 100% signal strength and about 97% snr. Image quality is perfect, every frame is ok even on HD channels.

I don't think also my laptop is too slow, because I recorded stream directly from card without watching it, and recorded stream looks the same.

Is there anything I can do to watch TV using TBS5680?

Hi, if your 5680 box is new, i.e. you haven't used it before and thus it has never worked good for you then most likely it's just faulty device that slipped thought QA. however, one other less likely option is that your DVB-C signal is too strong and you need to use attenuator or better call cable provider technicians to check its level and lower its strength. so, if dealing with the cable provider for such kind of support is hard to be arrange then better first to replace the box with new one, which can answer the same, i.e. confirm if your first 5680 device is faulty or just signal on your cable is too strong and causes issues.
