Hello,
I have spent 2 days using and analyzing what my TBS2603 can do.
I have installed the driver version 1.0.73 using Chrome ( yes that doesn't work if we use Firefox).
I have done my tests coding only 1 stream.
I have selected only "package A" . I don't know what is this parameter, no explanation on the manual.
Network :
I have used successively http broadcast and my prefered mod : Multicast UDP.
I can get the result using VLC, TSreader, TS analyzer and my own graph using Graphedit and a UDPreceiver Directshow filter.
I can say that Multicast UDP works well.
Video encoding:
I have tested H264 and H265 mode, data Rate 1024 kbps 720x404 . Yes video is encoded in H264 or H265 and with good quality.
but VBR mode doesn't follow the MAX data rate we have asked.
But CBR mode does'nt work :
=> using VBR the resulting data rate is between 445 kbps and 2947 kbps ( I have asked MAX 1024 kbps)
=> using CBR the resulting data rate is between 382 kbps and 4213 kbps ( I have asked 1024 kbps Constant bit rate !!!!)
OSD is OK
Audio encoding :
I have encounter 1 issue:
if I choose MP3 as audio codec, the video received is frozen! packets video and packets audio continue to be sent, but audio encoding is bad, my Mpeg analyzer is lost, VLC gives no more audio, only a frozen picture. If I go back to AAC codec, all is again OK
It would be also a very good Idea to give the possibility to code the audio with the MpegAudio codec (mp2) as it is used for DVB.
Conclusion:
This Encoder could be fantastic, but:
Could you fix the CBR issue and the MP3 audio issue?
Could you add the mp2 audio codec for DVB use?
We are many HamRadio searching an H264/H265 encoder that could send, using Multicast UDP, the TS to our DVB modulator.
If the TBS2603 could do that, we will be many HamRadio all around the world that will buy this encoder.
A last wish : to have a button that allow to add Null packets to be sure to have a Constant bit rate for the TS ( to be set) sent by UDP.
Best regards and tank you for your work.
