Just to inform that tbs-open-linux-drivers_v20210204 with Ubuntu 18.04 do not cause the problem I reported in my initial post.
So I will use Ubuntu 18.04 until someone find a solution.

To change to mode 0, I just have to edit the /etc/modprobe.d/mxl58x.conf file with "options mxl58x mode=0", right?
